About the adventure
The Endlands β sunless wastes stretch to the edge of a dying reality where the gods have already announced your Reckoning and something worse than the end is stirring in the dark. The only hope to save creation is you, your posse, and your quick trigger finger. - Solve the mystery of creation through a Tarot card treasure hunt - Blast your way through a dying D&D weird west, with new firearm-themed magic items, spells, and subclasses - Keep your eye on the prize as you meet cast of morally complicated NPCs β including a woman in black who knows more than she says, a celestial who speaks only in pictures, and figures from your own past - Fight an enigmatic cult and track down mysterious tarot cards to solve the puzzle of creation - Stage a Mind Flayer Train Heist - Prevent (or abet!) an inter-planar jailbreak Built as a mash-up of Planescape and Stephen King's Dark Tower, this semi-episodic custom campaign gives you cosmic stakes and weird west grit. Designed for players comfortable with 5e who want a twist on its core rules at a higher character level. Let's hope you're quick on the draw.

About me
Are you looking for a game where the world responds to your actions? Where your character's choices really matter? I've been playing TTRPGs for almost ten years now and starting DMing just in time for Covid. At least it was a chance to get some practice in online. While I started with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, I've branched out into all sorts of games. Whether you want to subvert an elaborate vampire conspiracy, scramble in the dark as a crew of scoundrels, or explore stars without number, I can help you make it happen. Bringing together a background in theatre, the storytelling skills of a professional charity fundraiser, and a degree in Greek myths, I have all the experience you could ask for in creating exciting situations to explore and compelling NPCs to interact with. Whatever your level of experience, I know you'll have a great time. Don't just take my word for it though, check out the reviews below. I can't wait to see you at the table!

Creating your character
I'm very happy to provide support over text and video/voice chat! This campaign makes quite heavy use of homebrew material (discussed below), so we'll construct a manual character sheet first, and I'll then set this up in our Foundry VTT. Player characters will be level 8 at the start of the campaign and level up roughly every two sessions - if you're joining mid-campaign I'll let you know where we're up to. Core attributes are set through Standard Array. You are free to use any race/species and background combo from throughout the 2014 rules, the weirder the mix of PCs the merrier! You are free to play any of the core classes, but you must use its new subclass in the Arcane Artillery homebrew module (see below). You're free to select spells from the 2014 PHB, but I'd highly recommend taking a good look at the new homebrew spells. As starting equipment, use your class and background's normal equipment, but change your starting weapons. Take two non-magical weapons from the PHB you have proficiency with, and two firearms from the Updated Firearms Table doc that you are proficient with. Make one a +1 weapon. Have a think about where/when your character has come from across the D&D multiverse, tell me one regret they have, and two important relationships in their lives. Your character may not belong to an Evil alignment.
Our adventure is well underway, but there's room at the fireside for more travelers! The party are all level 10 and consists of: π Potra Equidos, Centaur Paladin and entertainer, dedicated to Kelemvor. Always the first to charge in with battle axe and rifle. β Jasir al-Sahir, Drow Monk/Warlock, out to redeem himself for quests gone wrong. Careful investigator with a hound at his side. Our posse has met a spooky, pallid elf who knows more what she's saying, has fought intellect-devourer-infested drow and demodand kidnappers, and been set on a quest to save the multiverse. A strange, horned celestial who speaks only in pictograms has them hunting mystical Tarot images that hint at the nature of creation, hoping that this will reverse the destruction of everything. They're currently escorting a tiefling woman accused of being an archdevil out of a Lawful Good city that's trying to teleport to Mount Celestia. They're not quite sure if she's telling the truth when she says she's innocent.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
On top of making your character, you need to: - have a mic, headphones, and computer with an internet connection - have a read of the homebrew below - ensure you have access to Discord and Foundry VTT (as a player), and have followed the links supplied after sign-up - if you've not used Foundry before, have a look at the basics of how it works - https://youtu.be/_d7k8ognC0w?si=ldK_LRefXOdU2Zj9 gives a good primer
What Jacob brings to the table
I bring almost a decade of DMing experience, a carefully crafted Foundry setup, and some sharp improv skills. I'll provide all the rulebooks you need for character creation and playing the game. You can expect open ended challenges with a variety of paths to take - combat is there and its sharp, but you can often get around it too.
Homebrew rules
This game makes use of two homebrew systems. First, character creation, available weapons and magic items, and additional available spells can be found in the Arcane Artillery homebrew module. This module adds a new firearms-themed subclass for each of the D&D base classes (except for Druid) which are highly recommended to fit the setting and tone of the adventure. The module's weapons list has been narrowed down for this campaign, which can be viewed in the Updated Firearms Table doc. Second, the adventure will periodically make use of a new duelling system, intended to provide a middle ground between full D&D combat and a simple skill check. These systems are all detailed in this Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Yqjpp5qqezIBRk3R7AgHszLyUtgILadd
