About the adventure
Curse of Strahd is a well known campaign focusing on gothic horror, dark mystery, and atmospheric storytelling. While the setting leans into dread and tension, there’s absolutely room for humor, character moments, and the occasional bit of chaos, so expect a balance of eerie and fun. I put a strong emphasis on integrating character backstories into the narrative. The more detail you give me, the more I can weave your character into the world and the story in meaningful ways. We’ll be using the 2024 ruleset with a few minor house rules (nothing overwhelming, I’ll go over them before we begin). This campaign will start at level 1, and new players are absolutely welcome. That said, Curse of Strahd is known for its difficulty in certain areas, so expect real stakes and meaningful challenges. I’m planning to run the campaign from start to finish, so this will be a longer term game. The total number of sessions may vary depending on pacing and player choices. If you enjoy immersive storytelling, and a mix of horror and humor, you’ll feel right at home here.

About me
I have been running games since 2022, I had always interested in being a player, but I found my true passion when I started GM-ing. I have been running weekly games since then, with some players sticking with me since my first campaign. I have run several modules in totality, as well as homebrew ones. I also love making one shots. I usually use a combo of roll20 and Dnd Beyond for games. My style is a little more loose, I love my players thinking outside the box and offer many different ways to deal with situations rather than forcing a path. That being said I strive for equality and fairness among players. Any and all subject matter that could be distressing will be discussed beforehand in any game.

Creating your character
You will make your characters using D&D Beyond and I will provide a link for that. We will be using point buy and I will allow one free feat, in addition to the background feat, choose only the basic equipment offered to your class. I can hold a brief free session zero to assist in setting all that up.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using discord for voice and video (video optional), Roll 20 will be the VTT we will be using and DND beyond will be used for character sheet, there is a browser ext. called Beyond 20 that will be used to send rolls from DND beyond to Roll 20
What Justin brings to the table
I love doing all kinds of crazy voices and can get really into characters, I use top down tokens for immersion as well as ambient music through the use of a discord bot, I do try to stick to the rules for fairness sake but I am very flexible on that. If you think outside of the box it will be rewarded.
Homebrew rules
1. If a melee attack meets the AC it does half damage, this applies to players and monsters. 2. Flanking adds +2 to any melee attack 3. Drinking health potions will give the full amount of healing as an Action or rolled amount as a Bonus Action. Feeding a potion to someone else is an Action., 4. A Nat 20 on initiative lets you pick your place in initiative after hearing when others go. 5. Critical successes and failures only apply to attacks. I also won't allow any charisma skill contests between characters save for maybe deception, You are the character and you are allowed to do what you want. 6. You start every session with 1 Heroic Inspiration, can be stacked to up to 3 7. Death saving throws are whispered to DM, 8. Spell components must be used if they have a gold cost and if you don't have the components needed, you can spend the amount of gold they cost in their place. Components that have no listed value are on your person. 9. Crit is a max damage die 10. Variant encumbrance - ignore gold weight I am flexible and open to changes

How Justin creates a safe table
I will go over everything that could come up in a free session 0 and I will have players send me a list of things that they are uncomfortable with. You can also dm me during games if something is upsetting so I can retcon or pivot away. That being said this is a horror campaign, so gore violence etc are a part of it.
