About the adventure
We'll be diving straight into the final third of the Tomb of Annihilation module, entering into the titular Tomb itself! As we're starting at level 9, your characters will have plenty of tools at their disposal - but the Tomb is unforgiving, and you'll need to be clever and think outside the box to solve the puzzles (and survive the combats) within the dungeon. I can help you make characters, as I do allow multiclassing (up to 2 classes in total). You may also want to make one (or two) backup characters in case yours dies to... unforeseen circumstances. The dungeon has plenty of moments of levity, so it's not all grim-dark and scary. I've run this dungeon in its entirety a couple of times before, and I run the Tomb of Annihilation Dungeon Master Discord with a few thousand people in it. You're in good hands!

About me
Hi there! My name's Ryan, though a lot of people call me Apollo in online spaces. I've been DMing for nearly a decade now, running games for friends, coworkers, middle-school clubs, and game stores. I built the D&D Compendium website, which contains over a thousand resources for DMs and players. I've hosted DMing workshops for nearly as long as I've been DMing, teaching other fans of the genre to craft their own worlds and facilitate fun with their friends. I've been heavily involved with the D&D adventure module DM communities on Discord for years, building resources for and assisting other DMs with running the officially published adventures. Tomb of Annihilation has a special place in my heart, as it was my first official module - and as a huge fan of Dinotopia growing up, the setting of Chult made my heart sing. I make sure to host a "Session Zero" to cover boundaries, introduce our campaign setting, and build character backstories. I don't generally enjoy running games for Evil-aligned characters; my tables are for intrepid adventurers to vanquish evil and solve problems. I'd love to take you on a journey with me, and I can't wait to meet you!

Creating your character
After an introductory Session Zero, I'll work with you individually to help you with making characters if you need assistance. We'll need to convert the information to the character detail format used in the TablePlop Virtual Tabletop application. Starting level: 9 Multiclassing: Allowed, up to 2 total classes Books: D&D official content (don't mix 2014 and 2024) Stats: 15 14 13 12 10 8 (standard array) Health: Maximum at level 1, then roll for subsequent levels. If you don't like a roll, the DM will reroll but you must keep that new roll. Character death WILL be possible, so a backup character will help ease joining for future sessions. I'll help introduce the new character(s) if it does happen.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account, and sign into Tableplop. I'll give you a join link for the campaign during the session zero. There is no mandatory software to install. I'll give you a Discord server to join for my campaigns as well.
What Apollonaut brings to the table
Through my storytelling, you'll feel immersed in the deep, dark dungeon that is the Tomb. The danger is real! Every roll brings with it a storytelling moment, and I'm going to keep the narrative moving forward through your attempts at survival. The dungeon is unforgiving, but I have a soft side and am not adversarial. I'm not out to kill your characters; the dungeon is. Play smart and have luck on your side, and you'll make it out alive!
Homebrew rules
I allow bonus-action potion drinking.

How Apollonaut creates a safe table
During session Zero, we'll cover the things that make the group uncomfortable. I've got a fillable form to let me know responses in private, and I make it very clear up-front if there is sensitive content coming up during any particular session. I also can skip ahead past problematic parts if necessary.
