About the adventure

Dragonlance: Winter Night is a 5th Edition and Fantasy Grounds conversion of the original 1st edition Dragonlance modules DL6-DL9. I have pre-generated characters of all Heroes of the Lance, or make your own character, in the wildest ride of your life! New to D&D? No Problem! New to Fantasy Grounds? No problem! New to Dragonlance? No problem! New to Earth? Maybe a problem! (just kidding). In the shadow of war, the heroes are drawn into a perilous journey across frozen frontiers, lost realms, and lands scarred by ancient sorrow. As winter closes in, every road brings new dangers, uneasy alliances, and signs that far greater forces are moving across Krynn. From eerie wilderness to legendary strongholds, this chapter of the adventure blends survival, exploration, and rising heroism. The party must press onward through a world growing darker and colder, where courage, resolve, and faith in one another may be their only hope.

About me

Meet the Ever Imitated, Never Duplicated, Enigmatic Vodkard Spellbard About Me 🌟 Passion for Imagination and Storytelling From the earliest days of my youth, I was captivated by the allure of fantasy worlds. The magic of storytelling, the thrill of epic quests, and the boundless realms of imagination fueled my spirit. It was only natural that I would eventually step beyond the role of a mere player and embrace the mantle of a Dungeon Master. 🌟 A Journey Through Time My odyssey began in 1989 when I was a wide-eyed 13-year-old adventurer, rolling dice and forging friendships around the gaming table. Little did I know that those humble beginnings would lead me to orchestrate grand sagas and shape destinies. In the year 2000, I took my first steps as a Dungeon Master, crafting intricate narratives that danced between realms. And in 2016, I made the leap to professional status, dedicating myself to curating unforgettable experiences for fellow adventurers. 🌟 The Art of Listening and Empathy As a Dungeon Master, I don’t merely spin tales—I listen. I listen to the whispers of ancient forests, the echoes of forgotten crypts, and the hopes and fears of my players. I’ve mastered the delicate art of active listening, attuning myself to their desires, fears, and dreams. When they face a crossroads, I don’t rush to provide solutions; instead, I empathize, allowing their choices to shape the very fabric of our shared narrative. 🌟 A Different Lens on Reality My mind dances along the edges of possibility. I see patterns where others see chaos, and I find beauty in the unexplored corners of existence. My intelligence is both a lantern and a compass, guiding players through labyrinthine plots and revealing hidden truths. Yet, humility grounds me—I am but a guide, a weaver of dreams, and the true magic lies in the stories we create together. 🌟 Specialties Unveiled: Dragonlance and Eberron Within the tapestry of my campaigns, two worlds stand out like constellations against the night sky: Dragonlance and Eberron. In the hallowed halls of Solamnia, knights clash with draconic forces, and the echoes of ancient prophecies reverberate. Meanwhile, in the bustling streets of Sharn, airships soar, and intrigue coils like smoke. These realms are my canvas, and I paint them with wonder, danger, and the promise of epic quests. 🌟 Converting Legends: From 1st Edition to 5th Edition The past whispers to me, and I heed its call. I’ve embarked on a quest of my own—to breathe new life into the classic adventures of Dragonlance’s 1st Edition. With meticulous care, I convert these time-honored tales into the language of 5th Edition D&D and bring them to life within the digital realms of Fantasy Grounds. 🌟 The Joy of Creation What fuels my fire? It’s the joy that radiates from my players—their laughter, their gasps, and the sparkle in their eyes when they unravel a mystery or forge an unexpected alliance. Their happiness becomes my own, and together, we traverse the realms of wonder, forging bonds that transcend mere dice rolls. So, fellow seekers of adventure, step into my domain. Let us conjure tales that echo through eternity, where heroes rise, villains fall, and the stars themselves lean in to listen. 🔮🗡️🌌

What to expect

Preparing for the session

There is not much to prepare before Session 0. I go over everything during Session 0. During Session 0, I go over the program used to play online called Fantasy Grounds. We go over character creation. Have a meet & greet. I use Discord for Voice Chat. All you need for session 0 is a Desktop/Laptop, Discord, Internet, and Microphone.

What Vodkard brings to the table

I plan to bring the action, adventure, mystery, and romance to the table. I use unique voices for each NPC. Syrinscape for music, ambiance, and sound effects. Rules are often used strictly but are seen as guidelines and I will be the only Rule Lawyer at the table for a sigh of relief to all players.

Safety

How Vodkard creates a safe table

Players can expect in a typical session a beautiful mix of roleplay and combat. This specific campaign is PG-13. I do not allow excessive cussing and no sexual innuendos to ensure a pleasant time for people of all walks of life. I tone down certain parts of this old module to keep up with the times. I also use a Safety Tool for players to anonymously ask to slow down or halt the story if it is uncomfortable (though I try my hardest that doesn't happen).
