About the adventure
The Sword Coast is in turmoil. Tales of daring deeds and legendary exploits once inspired common folk and nobles alike, yet recently the bards’ songs have grown silent. The greatest heroes of the region, figures renowned for their bravery, cunning, and strength have vanished without a trace. No warning, no note, no hint of their fate. The lands they protected are now vulnerable to shadowy threats that creep beyond the edges of civilization, and the people are anxious, uncertain who will rise to defend them. From bustling cities to remote hamlets, whispers fill the taverns and marketplaces. Strange occurrences and unsettling events hint at forces stirring in the shadows. Monsters once thought vanquished prowl again, secretive cults gain influence, and long-forgotten evils begin to awaken. The balance of the region, once held secure by the valor of the famed heroes, teeters on the brink of chaos. It is in this uncertain hour that a new band of adventurers must answer the call. Ordinary lives can no longer suffice. Heroes must step forward, risking everything to face dangers that would crush lesser souls. Along winding roads, through dangerous wilderness, and across ancient ruins, these new champions will uncover mysteries that test their courage, wits, and resolve. Alliances must be forged, enemies confronted, and impossible choices made, for the challenges ahead are unlike anything the Sword Coast has seen in generations. This campaign is designed to draw players into a living, breathing world on the edge of upheaval. Characters of all backgrounds-whether seasoned warriors, cunning rogues, arcane scholars, or pious clerics will find opportunities to leave their mark on history. Each step brings both peril and reward, demanding that adventurers balance ambition with caution, curiosity with wisdom. The stakes are personal and epic in equal measure: every decision shapes the fate of the heroes themselves, the communities they protect, and the broader realm that trembles under looming threats. While the story is epic in scope, it begins intimately: the missing heroes’ absence is felt most acutely in everyday life. Villagers whisper prayers for protection, merchants worry about caravans and trade routes, and rulers seek champions who can rise to fill the void. The adventurers’ journey will challenge them to grow in skill and spirit, uncover secrets long buried, and navigate a world where shadow and light struggle for dominance. Prepare to venture into the unknown. The Year is 1362 DR, The Sword Coast needs new heroes; heroes willing to face danger, unravel mysteries, and rise to the occasion where legends have failed. The story is vast, the journey perilous, and the call to adventure urgent. Will you answer?

Homebrew rules
Crunchy Crits: When you roll a critical hit, rather than rolling your damage dice twice (or rolling twice the number of dice), your first roll will automatically be “rolled” at max value, and you will roll the additional dice, adding that damage to the first (maxed) roll before adding any modifiers to determine total damage. a. For example, if you are attacking with a longsword and roll a critical hit, rather than rolling 2d8, you will automatically “roll” an 8 on the first die, and you will roll the second die as you usually would. Say you have a damage modifier of +1 and roll a 6 with your second die, your damage roll will be 8 + 6 = 14 + 1, for a total damage of 15. Lingering Injuries: See the "lingering injuries table" the Dungeon Masters Guide chapter: 9, page 272.
