About the adventure

*The Pitt meets Fantasy High* Welcome to Hecate Castle, the Kingdom of Kalendia's premium hospital and medical academy. Under the oversite of the castle's matron, the wizard Hecate Lourdes, Assassins set down their daggers and pick up scalpels. Warriors hack off limbs to save lives. Wizards and seraphs study the mysteries of the multiverse together to find new ways to cure wounds and treat diseases. Rogues and rangers provide emergency care to people in dangerous places. And warlocks help navigate the most evil of lawful entities: for-profit medical insurance. This RP-heavy campaign blends the emotions and hijinks of a medical drama with the excitement and magic of a fantasy world. Will you spend the day tending dragon burns? Saving foes and friends alike? Outperforming your rival? The choice is yours at Hecate Hospital!

About me

Hey! My name is Michael, and I love creating worlds, building characters, and telling stories. I also like hosting games with a good balance of RP and combat. I love seeing what kind of shenanigans players can come up with and trying to create genuinely heartfelt moments in the games. If you're looking to push the boundaries of what you can accomplish as a player, I want to play with you.

Character creation

Creating your character

PREMADE CHARACTER SHEETS AVAILABLE. Because of the nature of the game, all characters will start at level 1. Pitch me your character idea, and we will collaborate to figure out exactly how to build them mechanically. Here are some basic ideas to get started: Assassin - Surgeon Bard - Psych Blood Hunter - Labs Brawler - Ortho Druid - Pharmacy Guardian - Security Ranger - Emergency Rogue - EMT Seraph - Chaplain Sorcerer - Legacy Warlock - Admin Warrior - Orderly Witch - Nurse Wizard - Research Note, these are all just suggestions. If you have an idea in mind, don't hesitate to ask! This is a collaboration, after all. All Characters will start as med students. The first two planned sessions will be focused on orientation.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players need to have a mic, as well as a Discord account. Additionally, players are expected to provide their own dice.

What Michael brings to the table

I will host the game on Discord. Encounters will be done using Theater of the Mind. Off-session questions will happen via Discord I do character voices to help me keep the various NPCs straight in my head. I think they're pretty good, but I'll let you be the judge. Ambient music will be discussed during Session 0. I very much support the "Rule of Cool.". I strongly encourage players to attempt shenanigans. When judgement is called for, I typically rule towards what makes the most sense for the story and characters, over what best fits the wording of the rules. Having said that, I believe that following the rules keeps stories more consistent, and don't mind rules lawyering at the table. If you believe I'm interpreting a rule incorrectly, make your case.

Safety

How Michael creates a safe table

In Session 0, we will be sure to have a moment to go over any triggers or sources of discomfort players have so I can avoid them during gameplay. I will maintain an open door policy for any player who has concerns during games. I will also provide a post-session talk where layers can bring up any concerns they have.
