About the adventure

The world above is safe, and people have forgotten the old world, that which lays beneath the surface of the earth. Ancient, old things stir, wishing to come forth to the surface and cause destruction. This story takes place entirely underground, so all heroes must be ready for a dangerous trek through unending darkness. It will take you through ancient ruins, into a maze of the unknown. You must beware monsters, crazed lost adventurers, and the environment itself. One wrong step could send you plunging below into the darkness, or drinking the wrong water send you into a crazed state from it being contaminated. Beware the dark below, hero. You must venture forth to save those you care for, just be certain you won't need saving yourself, along the way....

About me

I have loved DND since I first started playing some years ago. I've been a player for a long time, and have DM'ed off and on. I love all the stories we can tell with DND, and the cooperative story telling DND offers is amazing to me. In spare time I cuddle with my adorable kitty, and play Baldur's Gate. My day job is the gloriously dull work of retail.

Character creation

Creating your character

You will need a relationship to someone in the village of Solid Hearth. Whether it be a friend, child, lover, anyone. Species can be any of the basic ones, but no fey realm species. Flying species will be okay, just remember archers and ranged magic do exist in this world. We will be using an array of stats that are 17, 15, 13, 12, 10 and 8 for all characters. You can then add in racial stats. All classes including Artificer are acceptable.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have an account on Discord, and Roll20. Also have a working microphone.

What Dylan brings to the table

I will give my players custom experiences based on their characters, and their backstories. I want to make sure no one experience will be the same. The actions and backstories of each individual character will matter in this game. I also try to go with rule of cool more often than not, within limits of course. And I like to try and give my players a hand in making parts of the world, especially if it would have a part in their backstory. I also try to have ambient music and such prepped for various moments.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action. Monks get extra Ki points equal to their Wisdom modifier. Intimidation can be powered by Charisma or Strength.

Safety

How Dylan creates a safe table

During session zero we will discuss, among other things, any triggers the party has. They will be respected at all times, and may be said publicly or privately if need be, if you don't want someone to know it's yours. We also will have a player safety deck, with green, yellow and red cards for anyone needing them if something is bothering you at any time. Green will mean safe, yellow mean slow it down, red will mean hard stop instantly. I will always respect and accept that. During the game, if you also wish to send me a private message about anything at any time I am happy to hear from you. Along with that, during session zero we will discuss all lines and veils, and those also can be said publicly or privately if a player wishes to do so.
