About the adventure
This game is for beginners and players new to D&D. Players with a little bit of experience are welcome but with the understanding that we will be going slow and explaining rules and concepts as they come up. I believe in learning-by-playing, so we will dive into the game and build our D&D knowledge as we play. We will be playing through the Starter Set called "Dragon's of Stormwreck Isle". A fun adventure that takes place over about 4-6 sessions. Session 0 will be free, we will use that time to build characters, establish the tone and safety tools, and set the opening scene for our game.

About me
Hi! I'm Allan! I love science, nature, camping and, of course, gaming. I grew up playing a lot of video games but also enjoyed board & card games and was always fascinated with RPGs which my older brother and his friends would play every weekend. A few years ago, I started to get back to playing more tabletop games and that spiraled into a new appreciation for RPGs. This has grown my love for world building, making characters, and collaborative storytelling that RPGs do so well. Over the past few years I've mostly run D&D5e for friends groups and also in the community with players of all ages at local libraries and city community centers. I've now played all sorts of different games and systems and I am always looking to try new things. StartPlaying has been a great avenue for sampling all the different RPGs that are out there and I'm excited to contribute to that on the GM side of things.

Creating your character
During our free Session 0 we will create our characters. We will also have a chat space on discord where we can sort out any remaining character creation questions before we start the campaign. We're starting at level 1. To prepare players could start to think about what type of character they'd like to make. If they are a little familiar with D&D they can think about the Species, Class and Background they're interested in. Otherwise, just think about a hero character you like from a book/movie/game and we can try to model your D&D character off of them.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a Discord account and a working microphone (camera is optional but encouraged). Discord will be our voice/video chat for the game. Players should make an account on Roll20, this will be our virtual table top.
What Allan brings to the table
I will provide the D&D 5e (2024) materials to build characters and the Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Roll20 module. I have run this module many times for beginners and I am very well versed with the locations, NPCs and quests in this adventures. The players can expect a fun campaign with a lot of different locations, combat encounters and choices to make. The DM style for this game is relaxed with plenty of time for players to ask questions and learn as we go. I will stick to the rules for the most part, but am always open to listening to players suggestions and try my best to make it work in the game if possible.

How Allan creates a safe table
The main tools I use are Lines and Veils and the X-card which will be explained during session 0. We also will be taking breaks and doing check-ins as the game progresses.
