About the adventure

Half a million gold coins lie beneath the streets of Waterdeep, waiting to be claimed. Powerful factions scramble to reach the Vault of Dragons first, but you choose which to confront on your adventure. Will you clash with a beholder crime lord, a diabolical cult, an infamous drow iconoclast, or a conniving archmage once thought destroyed? Unravel the schemes within the City of Splendors, and find the missing gold before it's put to nefarious use.

About me

Well met, adventurers! I'm a DM with over eight years of experience running games for 5e and have been running 5.5e since it came out. I've had the good fortune of finishing multiple campaigns: many of which lasted for over a year. Whether you're a veteran or a novice, a min-maxer or a casual player, a serious role player or a player who just wants to do an old-fashioned dungeon crawl; odds are I've already hosted a game that's exactly the sort of thing you're looking for! I like to start off each campaign (and even one shots) with a session zero in order to ensure a smooth start to an experience where everyone at the table can get the most out of the adventure. I'm familiar with most of the 5e modules published by WotC, but am no stranger to creating campaigns from scratch. In either case, I strive to incorporate player characters into the plot to make players feel integral to the story. Everyone should have their time in the spotlight! I could talk about myself more, but the best way to get to know me is to join the Discord we'll be using for our games. That way I can personally answer any questions you might have about the games I run and how I run them. Join our Discord by requesting a link from me, and I'll send you the invitation as soon as I can!

Character creation

Creating your character

- Characters created in FREE session zero on Discord. - Player characters begin at level 1. - Roll for stats or point buy if you don't like the stats you rolled. - Milestone level up system. - Roll for HP or take the average. - Characters will finish the campaign at level 5

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- Join the Discord: https://discord.gg/J7MP9XQsus - Microphone/headset required - Roll20 account required, D&D Beyond account highly recommended. We typically play on Roll20 and use an extension to link D&D Beyond character sheets. - I can help you build your characters and level up, but I expect you to know your own abilities once you have them.

What Robert brings to the table

- Role20 Plus level subscription with content sharing enabled. - D&D Beyond Master Tier subscription with content sharing enabled. - A FREE session zero where we can coordinate character creation. - I've completed this adventure before, and am familiar with each of the four optional paths. - I encourage using existing NPCs as part of your backstory, or creating backstory NPCs to bring into the adventure so your character has stakes and a sense of belonging in the world. - I support bending rules for the Rule of Cool as far as possible without breaking them. As long as what you're attempting is remotely possible and doesn't explicitly contradict a rule, you are free to attempt it. - After this adventure ends, you'll have the opportunity to continue playing up to level 20 in a follow-up adventure: Dungeon of the Mad Mage!

Safety

How Robert creates a safe table

- There's a channel in the Discord where we can list our lines and veils. - X, N, and O's can be sent over Discord or Roll20. - We'll have a FREE session zero to discuss how lines and veils will be implemented. - No element of the story is worth causing players unwanted emotional distress. Don't ever be afraid to speak up at any time and put our safety tools to use!
