About the adventure
Your gateway to the rich and varied multiverse that is D&D starts here. An action-packed adventure in cooperative storytelling, where brave heroes battle monsters, find treasure, and undertake epic quests to protect innocent creatures and save the realm from evil. Dragons of Stormwreck Isle takes place on a small island off of the coast - an island that was the prison of an ancient evil dragon, which has been fought over by various interested parties over the years to claim hidden power, buried treasure, or a way to unleash the evil below. A small temple to the dragon god of good is also on the isle, and attracts pilgrims of all stripes to make an offering and discover their heroic potential. I am eager to present this to a group of brand new players as your introduction to D&D, and to the wider world of roleplaying games. In addition to the above, I am eager to present the Dragons of Stormwreck Isle module in particular for having the namesakes of the game be front and center: there are dungeons, and here there are most assuredly dragons! Come and join the fun, and experience the glee of rolling digital math rocks, of broadening your horizons, and I hope have a good time among friends. :)

Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been playing various dungeon crawl games and RPGs since I was young, and got into being a game master for my friends in college. I found I had a lot of fun coming up with homebrew ideas and worldbuilding for d20 and other systems based games, and I'm still enamored by over the top creative worlds and alternate histories from games like Exalted and Shadowrun. Unfortunately, adulthood has made it harder for my real life friends to get together for games lately, and all of my Friendly Local Game Stores have closed since 2020. I've been playing TTRPGs for about 25 years, and been a GM for about half as long. I like to run campaigns that change and challenge the listed assumptions about the game worlds as written in player handbooks and monster splats, where I want the players to carve out their own reputations in a world still full of heroes and villains pursuing their own agendas. I like to run games that cater to multiple styles of play, a nice balance of roleplay and combat, as deep into the intrigue of the world beyond as the party cares to travel. My media influences include, but are not limited to: the Stormlight Archive novels, Redwall, the Wheel of Time (my favorite :) ), Avatar: the Last Airbender, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, the Elder Scrolls, the 13th Warrior, Dragonball, and many others. https://startplaying.games/gm/brian_the_fuzzy/review

Creating your character
I will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game. These characters will come with a pre-built backstory, motivations to engage with the module and encourage roleplay, and cover a solid variety of combat and skill roles for the adventure at hand. All of these characters are Level 1, and built using standard templates. I have also included the guidelines for leveling up the characters in play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need at least an account on Roll20.net to join the virtual table top. A discord account is preferred for voice and video features. A working microphone is required. Webcam is optional :)
What Brian Beccia brings to the table
I enjoy inhabiting my NPCs, providing them unique voices and personalities to interact with your characters. For beginning players, I like to stick to the rules as written as much as possible, to be a fair arbiter and provide as much tutorial and background as needed. That said, I like to also encourage you to do awesome things, and will do my best to facilitate doing cool stuff, because cool stuff is fun :D

How Brian Beccia creates a safe table
For Session 0, I will go over the basics of play, the premade characters and their overall functions, and allow you all a chance to coordinate and customize your sheets to understand how Roll20's player interface works. I have included a set of digital "Safety Cards" to allow you as players to stop if a line of story is uncomfortable, rewind and replay important information, and other functions. These are easily accessed and available for anyone to use. This is an action-oriented game, and there may be some dark themes, descriptions of violence, detailed descriptions of monsters and other content that might be sensitive for some players. I like to keep as comfortable a space as possible while indulging in a full sensory experience - if anything makes you uncomfortable, I encourage you to use the resources, or simply tell me to stop :)
