About the adventure
For the longest time, two pirate factions had essentially ruled the world. But with a fight between both captains killing them both, the entire hierarchy of piracy collapsed. With the power of kings now gone, the world of Saltwater is now free to venture. With the Navy still recovering, and a large margin of pirates out at sea being rookies or hastily formed crews, no time could be better to seek the world out then now! Saltwater is a world consisting of mostly water sprinkled with landmasses of varying sizes, kinds, and civilizations. you can find a city in the sky, under da sea, or inside a dormant volcano. In this 5e adventure, you and your party can explore the seas, gain powerful treasures, steal full pirate ships, discover the mysteries of the previous lords of the sea, or even take part in a worldwide revolution to dismantle the naval government that holds Saltwater in a death grip. A new age of piracy, all for the taking!

About me
Heya! I'm semicolon (or semi). I'm a neruodivergent artist, streamer, and more importantly, GM. I like to play game with people and have good times with new friends. as a gm, I like incorporating peoples ideas into the worlds I create, letting them be a part of the world. I like cool stuff, so doing cool stuff with your character is cool, and I'll most likely allow it. I look forward to having cool people in my games and I hope you enjoy them!

Creating your character
You will start at level 2 with regular starting gear. races: it's recommended to use humanoid races like the ones provided in the base 2024 PHB. If you'd like to use a different race, run it by me and we'll figure out how they fit. classes: all wotc published classes are allowed (including artificer). like the races, any classes not listed must be run by me (unless it's pugilist, then you're probably fine, but still run it by me :3) homebrew: all homebrew must be run by me.
you may choose to be a part of the party at the beginning or not. though it would make things easier to be an already established party, either option is viable. It is alright to build your character to specialize in a certain crew position. I would recommend not cementing crew roles outside of sessions if you are not already established as a crew.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
you will need a discord account, DnDBeyond account, and Roll20 account. we will be using Roll20 for battle maps. if you are using DnDBeyond for your character sheet, download the Beyond20 extension here (https://beyond20.here-for-more.info)
What semicolon brings to the table
VTTs through Roll20. Sourcebooks in DnDBeyond. Players can expect a lighthearted game of whimsy that is also flexible for more serious moments. Players can also feel free to weave their own stories into the lore of the land, family conflicts, long running rivalries, insane romance plots, you name it.
Homebrew rules
Flanking instead gives a number bonus to attack rolls equal to your proficiency bonus. you may cast spells as many times per turn as long as you have the resources available. (ex. casting fire bolt with an action, misty step with a bonus action on the same turn) Using a potion is a bonus action, using it on someone else (like using a healing pot to revive an unconscious person) is an action. Flying requires you to land on the ground by the end of your turn (ie, Baldur's Gate 3 flying rules). If you are playing a flying race like an aaracockra, you do not gain the flight ability until level 5. When you land a critical hit, your base weapon damage is max, but you still roll the extra damage die. (ex. crit with a short sword deals 6 + ability mod + 1d6 slashing)

How semicolon creates a safe table
we will have a lines and veils established in session 0 that we can add onto in the future. if there is any moment in the game that makes you uncomfortable, please notify me, whether through DMs or in session. in that case, we'll take a break, talk it through, and take action, whether that being retconning or even ending early if it got bad enough. if you don't want to interrupt the flow of the game, you are free to leave the "room" if you get uncomfortable with something, no questions asked, just let me know and we can talk about it after session. our stars and wishes will be after each session. each player can pick any part of the session that stuck out to them, and anything they'd like to see in the future.
