About the adventure
Welcome to Barovia, a land shrouded in eternal mist and despair, where the sun's warmth has long been forgotten. In this dark and haunted domain, the cruel and enigmatic vampire lord, Strahd von Zarovich, reigns supreme. His gaze pierces the hearts of mortals, his power is unrelenting, and his desires shape the fates of all who dare to enter his realm. This campaign offers a rich blend of gothic horror, intrigue, and high-stakes adventure. Players will: - Explore eerie forests, ancient ruins, and the dreaded Castle Ravenloft. - Encounter tormented souls, enigmatic allies, and deadly foes. - Unravel Barovia's cursed secrets and challenge Strahd himself, testing their courage and wits in the face of overwhelming darkness. Themes: Mystery, survival, moral dilemmas, and the fight against overwhelming evil. Tone: Immersive, suspenseful, and character-driven, with opportunities for role-play and personal growth. Prepare for a journey into terror and triumph, where your choices shape the story, and every decision could mean the difference between salvation and eternal doom. Are you brave enough to face the Curse of Strahd? --- Please note this is a PLAY BY POST game! What is Play by Post? - Play-by-post (PbP) is a way of playing a tabletop role-playing game through written messages instead of live sessions - Players and the GM post messages on Discord - Each post describes: what your character says, what they do, sometimes what they think or notice - Posts happen asynchronously - You don’t all need to be online at the same time How my Play by Post games work: - I will respond at least 1-2 times every 24 hours - Battlemaps will be provided on Roll20 - Combat is done in this order: players > monsters > players and so on (this is to keep the game moving) Why Play by Post? Play-by-post often: - allows inner monologue and detail - feels closer to collaborative fiction - gives more time to think before acting Great if you: - love writing and character depth - Have time to write a short message at least once a day As always message me if you have any questions. I look forward to rolling with you at the table!

About me
Hi, I'm Lydia! As a child I'd always loved to role play, and when I realized we can still role play for fun as adults I jumped in and never looked back. I fell in love with D&D 6 years ago and have DMed for 3 years, and recently fell in love with other systems such as Mothership and Call of Cthulhu. My goal is to have epic adventures together while making sure everyone has a great time.

Creating your character
Character creation will be done on Dndbeyond before the first session - I'm here to provide any guidance. We will start at level 3. We will be using the 2024 rules. I will send a link to the campaign so you can create your character. Character Creation Rules (2024 Rules): - Level 3 - Use Standard Array or Point Buy, average HP - All other character options (Class, Subclass, Background, Feats, Spells) from Player's Handbook 2024 only No evil characters allowed - the monsters are evil enough!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need free Roll20, DnDBeyond and Discord accounts (paid accounts not required). A basic knowledge of D&D rules would be great but I am happy to help.
What Lydia K brings to the table
We will use Roll20 for our virtual tabletop - this includes battlemaps, world maps, character and NPC tokens, and ambient music.
