About the adventure

New to Dungeons & Dragons? This is the perfect place to start. In this beginner-friendly game you’ll learn how D&D works as you play, from rolling dice and using your abilities to solving problems as a team. No experience is required — just curiosity and a sense of adventure. The story unfolds in a vibrant fantasy world of taverns, forests, ruins and hidden secrets. Together we’ll create a tale of daring quests, clever thinking and heroic moments. Whether you prefer negotiating with suspicious villagers, investigating ancient mysteries or battling monsters, there will be plenty of chances to shine. My GM style is relaxed, supportive and focused on fun. I guide new players step-by-step, explain the rules clearly and encourage creativity over perfection. Expect character voices, atmospheric music and a welcoming table where questions are always encouraged. If you’ve always wanted to try D&D but didn’t know where to begin, this adventure is made for you.

About me

My name’s Bird, though at the table I’m best known as Thee Silvery Bard—a playful nod to the 5e spell Silvery Barbs. The name embodies my style: bold, imaginative, and guided by the Rule of Cool. My mission is simple: to create unforgettable, collaborative stories where every player shines. My sessions are inclusive and supportive. I'm a huge supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights. Performance has been in my blood since childhood. I’ve worked as a musician, a stand-up comic, and a teacher—but nothing has been as fulfilling as stepping into the role of Game Master. Over the years, I’ve performed for the BBC in the UK and NBC in America, earned awards, and produced shows that left audiences captivated. Whether it’s celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons or exploring a hidden indie gem unearthed from the shelves of London’s legendary Orc’s Nest, I bring the same promise: a gaming experience that is brilliantly creative, deeply kind, and endlessly entertaining.

What Thee Silvery Bard brings to the table

When you join one of my games, you’re stepping into a welcoming, creative space where everyone can learn, experiment and have fun together. My tables are supportive and inclusive, especially for new players. I guide the group through the rules at a comfortable pace so no one feels lost or pressured. The focus is on shared storytelling, laughter and building memorable moments as a team. I love bringing the world to life. Expect character voices, atmospheric music and visual maps or images to help you feel immersed in the adventure. I use clear visuals and simple explanations so the game feels accessible, even if you’ve never played before. Questions are always welcome, and helping players discover what their characters can do is one of my favourite parts of being a Game Master. My style balances story, exploration and exciting combat. Battles can be tactical and dramatic, but I always prioritise fun and creativity. If you come up with a clever idea or cinematic move, the Rule of Cool is always welcome at my table. The goal is for everyone to feel heroic and involved in the story. Above all, I aim to create a positive table where players feel comfortable contributing, taking risks and enjoying the adventure together. Whether you’re completely new to tabletop role-playing or returning after a long break, you’ll be supported every step of the way as we explore fantastic worlds side by side.

Safety

How Thee Silvery Bard creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are very important at my table. I want everyone to feel welcome, respected and able to enjoy the game without worry. Before the campaign begins, I share a Lines and Veils document with all players so we can clearly identify themes people want to avoid (Lines) and topics that should remain off-screen (Veils). This helps us create a shared understanding of boundaries before play begins. During Session 0, we take time to introduce ourselves, discuss the tone of the game, talk about character ideas and agree on table expectations. I also explain the safety tools we will use, check that everyone understands them and make sure players feel comfortable asking questions. Session 0 is about building trust and making sure everyone feels included from the start. While playing, we use X, N, and O safety tools. Players can type these in chat, message me privately or hold them up on camera depending on what feels easiest. • X means stop or change the scene immediately. • N means something is heading in an uncomfortable direction. • O means everything is good and the player is comfortable continuing. After each session, I always check in with players briefly to see how everyone is feeling and whether anything should be adjusted for future games. My goal is to create a table where people feel safe to speak up, respected by the group and supported throughout the adventure.
