About the adventure
Aetheria is an ancient world pulled by two gravities. The roof of the world where the population lives on the underside branches of the great world tree, and the twisted labyrinthine root system that coats the land far below. The fear of falling keeps the population of Astrak, the sole city of the world, tethered and locked to the sky-floor, but a brave few, known as Delvers, make the journey across the Balance into the roots in search of ancient treasures, lost possessions, and rare materials to bring back in return for renown and fortune. Will you join a newly budding Delving Guild for the chance to join the infamous society of crazed adrenaline junkies? Will you survive your first delve into the lost surface world of Aetheria? Or will you become lost in the twisted roots, slain by a rival guild, or eaten by one of the few denizen creatures that now call the surface world home?

About me
I've been playing ttrpg's for nine years now and I've always been a forever DM and love doing it. I predominantly use homebrew worlds and campaigns, but have been branching out into some of the Daggerheart campaign frames for some shorter series. I've mostly played D&D, but have fully dived into Daggerheart, and also been using some fusion of the two for ongoing campaigns to test drive rules and the playstyle. I write a lot in my free time and I love incorporating players backstories into the world for crazy plot reveals and more interesting dynamics and stakes.

Creating your character
A free session zero will take place where we discuss which system (Daggerheart or D&D) will be used followed by character creation. In the meantime have a character in mind and answer the following questions with that character: 1.) Will your character be young or middle aged? 2.) Will they have an arcane or martial focus? 3.) Is your character from a poor, middle, or upper class background? 4.) Are they educated? If so did they have a particular focus of study? 5.) What did they do before deciding to change careers? Was it forced or a specific choice they made to leave that career? 6.) Do they have a family? Parents? Siblings? 7.) What particular struggle does your character have with the way society functions? 8.) Does your character look up to a parent? Older sibling? Mentor? Instructor? You're character is leaving behind their former careers, lives, and livelihoods for the chance at becoming a Delver, a incredibly dangerous job that is largely seen as a position for adrenaline junkies, criminals, and maniacs by most of society. Answer these questions with that in mind. Why would your character want to do this? Why would they be leaving behind what they did before for this career? Was it a childhood dream? A desperate play for quick cash or fame? Or a mid-life crisis taken too far?
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord and Roll20 accounts. Potentially a Dndbeyond account or the Daggerheart character creation website, these are not required though. I can provide character sheets that can be filled out for both if that is a players preference. Watching Patema Inverted, Upside Down, Made in Abyss, and/or Bubble will help with inspiration around the ideas of a world effected by constantly switching gravity and with the inverted fear involved with falling upwards to your death!
What Heart brings to the table
I will be providing the Roll20 and Discord servers that will contain resources, maps, histories, and additional details. I will also create character art or additional backstory details as needed based off of what players provide. I utilize character voices and ambient music for differing scenes. I prefer combat to be intense and fast moving. I generally stick to Rules as Intended, but Rule of Cool can be utilized in specific creative situations.
Homebrew rules
We will go over homebrew rules depending on what system the players prefer to use! The world setting will have a custom mechanic based around a world with 2 gravities and magical technologies that effect it.
