About the adventure

The Renaissance Faire has returned, knights clash, maidens sing, and crowds flood the fairgrounds in celebration. But just beyond the tents and banners, something moves through the trees. When a LARPer is discovered dead in the nearby forest, gored clean through by wounds that match neither wildlife nor known weapon, the festivities take on a darker tone. The hunters arrive as rumor turns to panic and the line between performance and reality begins to blur. Locals have reported sightings of a massive creature stalking the woods at dusk. Some think it’s a viral marketing stunt. Others whisper about curses, fae courts, or forgotten woodland spirits angered by the festival. As belief in myth and legend permeates the air, the Faire itself may be acting as a beacon, drawing something mythic into the open. The more people who gather to celebrate fantasy, the more dangerous it becomes. This is a cinematic Monster of the Week one-shot focused on investigation, mounting tension, and an explosive final confrontation. New players are welcome, pre-generated hunters are available, and the mystery will fully resolve in a single 3–4 hour session.

About me

Character creation

Creating your character

Players should create a character before the session, but there will also be some time set aside at the beginning of the session for me to help and answer any question.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have the following: - a Roll20 account - access to a webcam/mic - a discord account (for playing the game)

What Joe (Phoenix) brings to the table

I bring the MotW core rule book, and it's expansion Codex of Worlds A Discord server where sessions will be taking place. and a fun and engaging story! I mainly focus on roleplay and story telling with a bit of puzzles and some combat to keep things spicy. I am a very rules light kind of GM I use the rules more like guidelines and just want people to come together and have a good time playing some MotW!

Homebrew rules

- If a playbook does not have the ability to *use magic* they get an Alternative Weird Move, and must treat any magic as Big Magic - Players are limited to only two hunters/characters at time. - For MotW One-Shots you will have 4 Luck instead of the typical 7 A List of all the house rules that I use are listed in my discord server

Safety

How Joe (Phoenix) creates a safe table

Players will find a link to my lines and veils document in the discord, we will have a brief session 0 before the game starts to go over any questions or concerns players may have about the game and we will also go over character builds. I use the X, N, & O's during the game and payers who have their video on can choose to either make an X, N, or O with their arms or just type in the chat.
