About the adventure
TLDR: Evil Dead II x Faith: the Unholy Trinity A grim-dark fantasy setting, where the only settlements that remain are the church cities that act as bastions against the cruel, harsh landscape. Society has stagnated in its progress, since the archaic church rules with impunity. At first, whispers of cultists lurking in the city’s blood sewers. The eerie and creepy atmosphere steadily escalates into absurd levels of bloody chaos, grotesque rituals and hordes of demons for the players to mow through.

Creating your character
You are a Penitent. In the past, you have sinned against the Holy Paimon. and have sworn an oath of loyalty to serve as your Penance. The severity of your Penance depends on the sin. A lie could send you on a short pilgrimage. Thievery could have you sworn to serve for a decade. Witchcraft or murder... sins so foul would never be forgiven, and your oath shall be eternal. Despite their sinful history, Penitents are loyal and trustworthy warriors of the faith, respected in an unusual way by the general public. Penitents are sent on the deadliest quests, as their lives are held in little regard by the church, since, if they meet their end, it was clearly Paimon's will. Whether you have recently been sworn in as a Penitent, or have been serving for decades; whether you were falsely accused of a crime or are truly sinful; whether you have taken your oath to heart or are using it as a method of escaping a more righteous punishment, is up to you. Penitents wear a cast iron mask, modelled after no one. They cannot show their face to another member of society or they shall be executed and desecrated, unable to enter the Ether after death. The face is intentionally bland and inexpressive, drawing attention away from the sinner and towards the people they must serve. Only when the penance has been served, may the mask be removed and they can show their face to society once more. You have now been called upon to complete a task for Paimon, in order to attain his forgiveness and repent for your sins. You must travel to the ancient, but mundane church-city of Doncaster in order the retrieve orders from Father Sitri, who has troubling news of an evil cult, demonic forces and the impending date of the Unholy Sabbath, in just one week...

What Violet Lawrence brings to the table
I like to immerse my players in the world. I use music and voices. My combats are typically challenging but fair. Tactical combat with emphasis on using your environment. I’m always making custom maps, so if it’s there you can throw it, break it, use it as a weapon or think of something I never considered.

How Violet Lawrence creates a safe table
The campaign has very dark themes, so discussing beforehand what you’re comfortable with is a must. I use red and yellow cards but messaged privately, so no one feels like they are ruining the fun. NOTE: Despite being very dark and violent, certain themes will not be tolerated: Child murder, Rape, Sexism, Bigotry, Sexual Violence, ect.
