About the adventure
⚜ THE INVITATION ⚜ You may have been confused when the invitation came, or perhaps you saw it coming. Maybe you recognized the covert recruitment tactics being used on you, or possibly this came out of nowhere. Whatever the circumstances, in your hand is a piece of ancient-looking parchment with nothing but your name, a date, and an address. Embossed on the bottom of the sheet is a round seal that contains the image of a three-headed jester. Whether or not you recognize this symbol does not matter; you are compelled to show up at this event and have a feeling you know why you were invited. ═══════════════ Urban Shadows 2e is a modern fantasy game with mechanics based on the Powered by the Apocalypse framework. In our game, you can play one of many types of beings, including mortals, vampires, werewolves, demons, fae, and spirits. Kismet City is an urban setting where power rules, and plenty of people in the city are fighting for it. The Anomaly Association isn't widely known, but its goal is to influence this city and help keep power from falling into the wrong hands.

Creating your character
✦ When is character creation? Character creation will happen in Session Zero. This includes choosing a city hub for the group to reside in, your character sheet information, any connections and debts your character has with NPCs and other players at the table. If you are joining the group after it has already started, then we can find time 1-on-1 or with the group to help seamlessly get you into the game! ✦ What playbooks can I use for my character? We are playing Urban Shadows 2e, and you have the option of using all playbooks from the main game, Kickstarter stretch goal playbooks can be discussed. If you need them, there will be a link in Discord to the available playbooks. ✦ Is there anything else that I will need for my character that isn't already in the playbook? To help immerse our characters into the world right away, each player should create the following: • at least 2 city locations directly connected to your character • a secret your character holds • the reason your character believes they were recruited for this secret society

✦ WHAT YOU NEED ✦ • A Discord account and a working microphone (for voice communication) • A webcam (optional) ✦ THINGS TO PREPARE ✦ • A couple character ideas that you would like to play (the group will share ideas in Session Zero and settle on characters that will work with the group) • Join the Discord and introduce yourself! Any pre-session zero planning is casual and will happen there!

I'm also happy to help with any questions. • Discord Server— We will be starting our sessions in Discord voice chat. All discussions outside of game time will happen in Discord in dedicated channels. A Play-by-Post channel is also available! ✦ DMing ✦ • I'm invested in your characters and helping to make our story memorable. I focus on RP and believe that the players help set the pace of our story. Side quests and sub-plots that extend a mystery from 1 session to 2 are not a problem here! • We follow the dice here, as every success or failure is an opportunity for an unrealized plot. However, the "Rule of Cool" is never off the table if the group agrees to the action! • My Discord DMs are open, and I'm happy to help with character development plans and plotting. If you have a neat idea, I want to help make that happen!

How Liz | Building Worlds creates a safe table
✦ SESSION ZERO ✦ Session Zero will be used to officially introduce the VTT and Discord spaces. We will review our safety tools, set the game's tone, create our characters, and answer any questions. All of this information and conversation may start in Discord before Session Zero begins, but everything will be set during this session. ✦ SAFETY TOOLS ✦ The safety tools are used in both Discord and our VTT (if used). The Discord server has a dedicated, easy-to-find reference for all our safety tools.
