About the adventure

The city of Waterdeep is loud, crowded, and full of opportunity. Power moves through back rooms and whispered deals, and somewhere beneath it all lies a stolen hoard of gold large enough to change everything. Somehow, you’ve been pulled into the race to find it. Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a roleplay-focused, intrigue-driven adventure where words can be as powerful as weapons. Expect investigations, political schemes, dangerous factions, meaningful consequences, and combat when things inevitably go wrong. Your backstory isn’t decoration, it’s part of the city now.

About me

Well met! I’ve been GM-ing since 2019, my storytelling style tends to be gritty, character-driven fantasy with enough humor to bring out the occasional laugh. I draw inspiration from writers like Joe Abercrombie, George R. R. Martin, and Tolkien. I’m also influenced by video games such as The Witcher, Shadow of the Colossus, and Heroes of Might & Magic. At my table, player freedom is at the core of the experience. I enjoy it when players test the limits of my imagination and push the story in unforeseen directions. I tend to return the favor by placing players in situations where they have to improvise on the fly, which can be both challenging and rewarding. If you enjoy that type of challenge, you’ll likely have a good time at my table. My goal is always to create a vivid theater-of-the-mind experience where players can unleash their creativity and leave with unforgettable stories. I favor theater-of-the-mind GM-ing because I want to mimic the feeling of a real-life table as closely as possible.

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0, we’ll go through character creation step by step and discuss how each character fits into the world.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Theater of the Mind experience, we'll be using Discord - which is the only app you need. No virtual table-tops. We want to mimic a real-life table experience as closely as possible.

What IvanGMT brings to the table

We will be using the 5.5e D&D ruleset - if your not familiar with the latest edition or the 2014 version, I'll provide guidance. Gameplay wise this is a Theater of the Mind table, no other apps aside Discord are required. I have years of experience running D&D adventures & there will be occasional ambient/action music. Using a camera is up to each individual, I have mine on.
