About the adventure

Survivors of the zombie apocalypse have formed a small tribe in order to survive the horrors of the apocalypse. These survivors must deal with the constant need for supplies and the logistics of defense versus travel versus scavenging. The undead have acute senses, except for touch, and lose no bodily function until completely dead. The tribe must deal with other tribes and lone raiders, as well as infighting in their own tribe. The dream is to uncover a "utopia" like a self-sustaining bunker, a democractic free civilization that'll take you, or maybe making your own settlement and attracting others to it. The players will get a chance to vote on a number of factors for the game, including things like, Survival Intensity & NPC Behaviors. Meaning the game could brutally track your water, food, sleep, and constantly deal with realistic healing paces and infections, or it could round up "Supplies" which simply deplete every day. NPCs can start with the Survivors, or join later, making use of their unique Skills or using them for fodder. NPCs can be realistic, meaning scared, desperate, and thieving, or they can be more obvious, making them good or evil right off bat, rather than dealing with subterfuge in your Survival game. Other factors will also be up for discussion, but no matter, the start is randomized, with likelihood based on population density. Previous games have been suburbs in California, Manhattan in NYC, and West Texas. But where you'll make your start, you'll just have to see! If you'd like to play this game at a different day or time, please feel free to message me! Please specify this exact game when messaging me, as well as the exact day/time you'd like this game to be listed at. I will respond if it is possible, and if it is, I'll send a link to that new listing.

About me

I am a longtime TTRPG GM that loves D&D & GURPS, with a large library of books, art assets, and time to share with my players, it is my favorite thing to do. I am a huge fan of roleplay and often modify mechanics to benefit storytelling & session fluidity. I use Foundry VTT, which is free to my players, and includes vast customization options for every campaign & every participant. Please take a look at this Google Sheet for all of my GURPS games: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OIi-Yp_5L2k4LvJ_L-YxgZ_YF7QIsZr4h0PIoit8fKM/edit?usp=sharing

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation will take place individually, with each respective player and the GM. Once both parties agree, the characters will be introduced to each other in a Session 0, which will include meshing the characters. Character Creation will remain active until Session 3, meaning players can fiddle with their character for a bit to make sure it is a right fit. This is to ensure everyone is having fun with their characters, and no one feels like they wasted points on a feature. Character will be created in GURPS Character Sheet (GCS), which is a free program with comprehensive data on GURPS 4e.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring a solid character idea, and maybe character art, with a token. You'll need to have Discord to communicate. Reading GURPS 4e Basic Set, Chapters 1 - 4, is all that I ask, additional books & rules will become available as needed. The players should also make sure they have GCS (see below).

What John brings to the table

Foundry VTT, which is free to players, a library of GURPS 4e books that will be available to players, and custom art assets & maps, some powered by AI. Ambient music will be used to set the tone and mood of a location or scene. The players will be expected to roleplay throughout the session, but the game highlights survival, which includes social dynamics as well as combat & situational puzzles.

Safety

How John creates a safe table

The GM and players will have a Session 0 where they discuss content they don't want to see, and how to go forward so everyone is happy. Players can also discuss breaks, as needed, for longer sessions.
