About the adventure

This is an intro game using the Daggerheart quick-start adventure: "The Sablewood Messengers." If you're looking to learn the rules then this game is for you. We'll go over all of the base mechanics while you get used to this new system. The Sablewood is a mysterious forested region that your characters need to venture to on an important mission. With stories of cunning bandits, strange hybrid creatures, and dangerous magic, it's certainly not a picnic. But your party is trusted with this task, and how you complete it is up to you. Don't worry about making a character: this starter adventure comes with six pre-made adventurers. Each has a character sheet with all of the information ready to go. Additionally, you can customize your experience by answering some of Daggerheart's interpersonal character questions. Do you owe someone a debt? Why does this other person trust you so deeply? And did you steal character #3's lunch last week? That last one was a joke. However, if you would like to make your own character then we can certainly take a bit of time to make that happen. If you're interested, then try out Daggerheart run by a game-master with years of experience in other systems.

About me

I love TTRPGs and the idea of supporting myself via that love would be a dream come true. As a game-runner I have learned how to adapt and customize my games, as well as create connections and plot lines for my players. From one-shots to ongoing campaigns, I'm looking forward to being able to run great games for the people of the internet.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will use the characters that are provided with the quick-start adventure. However, these characters can be customized to certain extents. Additionally, questions about interpersonal relationships between the characters will be part of learning the rules and can alter the experience. The characters are level 1 and each have different characteristics, features, and abilities. Sheets for these characters can either be used in the form of digital documents (or physical if you would like to print yours out) or through the online tool Demiplane.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: a Discord account; physical or digital dice; a computer with internet connection; a microphone; and possibly a Demiplane account (not required).

What Bernard brings to the table

For my games, I generally stick to the established rules but on occasion the "Rule of Cool" will take over. My game-running style could be described as "atmospheric" as I like to help my players feel immersed. Through the use of colorful descriptions, character voices, music tracks, and soundboards, I hope to bring the game world to life. Combat uses a virtual tabletop streamed from my computer to give you a visual representation for tactical play and pulling off your plans (no purchases or accounts necessary). I have the starter character sheets and rule pages available to send to you as well as the content available on Demiplane if you would prefer to use a digital version.

Safety

How Bernard creates a safe table

Players will be sent a file of the Monte Cook content checklist to fill out and return to me. Anything that they wish their fellow players to be made aware of can be, otherwise I will not divulge said information and simply use it to cater the appropriate experience. Particular content can be brought up ahead of time if necessary. Issues during games can be brought up and if necessary changed during game or we can pause to discuss.
