About the adventure
📖 Scattered throughout the region, monsters and villains run rampant. The roads are pillaged with banditry, the woods filled with walking nightmares. Strange silver masked assassins lurk in the shadowy desert streets of Calimport, while Acolytes of different faiths seem to be their targets. Wealthy merchant houses push their agendas through mechanical constructs, fighting for power and control. 📚 In this sandbox style campaign, a tale of heroics and intrigue will drive our adventurers to greatness. A well thought out character concept is required in this player driven adventure. Catering to the backstories of our heroes this game will primarily follow the leads and hooks of our party, while the workings of the world, and story hooks play out around them. We will work together to tie your characters classes, abilities and features into the narrative of the game as the story unfolds. 📙Using the canonical Forgotten Realms setting that everyone knows and loves, our story will begin in the spring of 1495 D.R, using the city of Calimport as our starting location. 🎲 Using the 2024 ruleset, the newly published source books, and 2014 legacy content and a hearty homebrewed story. You will level-up roughly every 3-4 sessions, keeping things moving quickly. This is a high magic campaign where magic items will be given out regularly (send me a wishlist).

About me
Living in a small ski town in the Canadian Rockies, I began running games like most people - with small groups of inconsistent friends and constant cancelations. Throughout the years of playing various TTRPG's I found myself obsessed with telling stories of High Fantasy, Horror and Mystery. Two years ago, my town was devastated by a wildfire, burning over half of the town to the ground. Being displaced for months, loosing employment, and eventually moving back to my destroyed town, I started hosting games on StartPlaying as a source of income. Over the last two years, having run numerous long term campaigns, I've moved into being a (nearly) full time DM.

Creating your character
👥 A strong character concept is a must, as we'll be beginning at level 0 - our party will begin classless as our story will go into detail on how our heroes attained their powers and abilities. Using a heroic stat rolling system, our players will have higher than average state to combat the dangers of the land. 📖Using both the 2014 and 2024 rulebooks, all previous content is permitted, along with a few magic items to start off with. 💻Using the Foundry VTT web browser app, I run a private server with integrated dice rolling, character sheets, music, maps and tokens.
A well written player backstory is a must for this campaign. Using your characters history we will tell their story, from their origins through their triumphant journey becoming a hero. Since session zero has already taken place, I require all new players to meet with me prior to go over the campaign, and how you'll tie in with the current story. Milestone leveling, expect to level every 3-4 sessions. The Party so far: Aurum, a Dragonborn Cleric trusted with a package of great importance on behalf of the Followers of Tymora. Rinks - The Human Sorcerer, formerly a great Arcane Asvisor of Waterdeep, sucked into a Wild Magic Rift now looks for cures to his uncontrollable ailment. Ryul - An Elven Artificer from the Shadowfell, sold into the servitude of a Gnomish Tinkerer who has now gone missing, he now finds himself free and on the hunt for his masters kidnappers. Nyandak - A Tiefling Monk sent from a hidden monastery to interfere with the nefarious plots of the city. Martel - An aspiring Human Paladin of Tempus, looking for his Gods Favor in the trials of Calimports Arenas
What to expect
Preparing for the session

What Crusty brings to the table
🤖Playing on Foundry VTT & over Discord, myself and a few other players use webcams, but are not mandatory. I'll be bringing a full integrated soundtrack for background music, custom tokens, maps and handouts. 🎨NPC voices make everything fun. Descriptive combats that are fast moving. Detailed narration to keep you intrigued, and proper player spotlighting to make sure everyone is a main character. 🌟With deep character background connections I'll bring your character to life with motives, hooks, and connections drawing you into the story on a personal level, altering the module as I see fit to better align with the parties playstyle and expectations. 🎲A great understanding of the rules with a few tweaked preferences, all for the players enjoyment.
Homebrew rules
•A custom stat rolling method creating more heroic characters with a higher diversity of build potential for the players. •Dynamic initiative - rerolling initiative at the end of each round to keep players on their toes. •Dirty Criticals - all hits 10 over the AC target number are critical (applies from monster attacks as well). Speeds up combat, makes fights more deadly. •Hidden death saves to create suspense

How Crusty creates a safe table
Player comfortability is a high priority, with an open door policy, I encourage all players to send me any possible concerns before the game of topics to avoid, I can be quite descriptive with combat, and I also hope no one hesitates to send me a message during game if there is any subject matter to avoid.
