About the adventure

The Nentir Vale was once the frontier of human civilization, and now it struggles to survive against encroaching darkness! Against this backdrop of fallen empires and mythic history, you will rise to the fore as decisive heroes and make your own legend. Your path to glory begins now, amidst the bones of gods themselves. This is a fantasy sandbox campaign set in the Nentir Vale, the "Points of Light" setting from Dungeons & Dragon's 4th Edition. This campaign is a deliberate throwback to old school modes of play for tabletop RPGs, and uses Draw Steel to emphasize the tactical cinematic action that can occur in this playground.

About me

"He’s like Mrs. Dalloway, but with dice." - my favorite review ever Well met, fellow human! Let's sit down and come up with a story, something that we'll be remembering fondly for years afterwards. Let's make up stupid voices and get all emotional over a fake donkey, let's turn up the battle music and feel tension as the enemy moves across the field. Let's create some badass moments. As you may have gathered, I'm a big fan of the collaborative nature of tabletop roleplaying. I believe the game runs best when I don't know what's going to happen next, you don't know what's going to happen next, and we're all just frantic with excitement about the next roll of the dice. We play to find out what happens.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created before the first session, as standard issue level 1 Draw Steel PCs. Complications may be selected beforehand or rolled for at the start of the first session. A player's guide will be provided to help offer guidance for character ancestries + class selection.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should take a gander at the basics of the Draw Steel rulebook and acquire an account on Forge VTT.

What Brayden brings to the table

I'll be bringing my love for tabletop RPGs, an enthusiasm for Draw Steel, nostalgia for my childhood RPG setting, a custom music bot, vivid and alive NPCs, and more to the game.

Safety

How Brayden creates a safe table

We'll be utilizing a multitude of safety tools, with the two biggest ones being the X Card and Lines & Veils. Breaks will occur halfway through the game and give players a chance to debrief from the action.
