About the adventure

Your liege, the Duke of the Cobalt Alligator Court, furtively contacted you in the dead of night. His breathing was ragged and his eyes crazed--but his tone was resolute. In between sputters of breath, he demanded you meet with him at dawn on a specific date to discuss "something of grave importance to all who touch the Dreaming in the Land of the Rising Sun." That was two days ago. With the time of your foreboding meeting at hand, you enter your liege's Freehold here in Beppu, Japan, only to discover something alarming. Your liege is mysteriously absent from castle. But he demanded you meet with him here. At this time. That's when you remember another piece of the fragmented conversation you had with him two days ago. "Five days," he gasped. "All will end in five days." ************************************************ In this one-shot, you will be racing against the clock as you attempt to locate your liege and decipher his cryptic message before it is too late. The only thing you can be certain of is this: something dreadful is about to happen in the tranquil city of Beppu. And the Fae may not survive it. This one-shot is designed to introduce new players to the game: the core mechanics of the game will gradually be revealed as the session progresses, rendering this complex system into easily digestible and accessible chunks for players of all experience levels! If you've ever wanted to try Changeling: The Dreaming (20th Anniversary Edition), now's your chance!

About me

Avast, ye intrepid adventurer! Ye hast...*Ahem*. Perhaps I should be serious. Hello, there! I'm Enigmaze, but you can call me Enigma. I have been DMing for 9 years (as of 08/2025). Throughout those years, I've ran a variety of systems ranging from D&D 5E to Exalted: Essence and even V:tM 5E and, recently, Daggerheart. My interests are vast and varied. Odds are, I either already have a game for you OR I likely have one (or will have one) in the works!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using pre-generated characters for this one-shot. Please take some time to read over your character sheet prior to the one-shot, as CtD (20th) is a bit complicated. Don't worry, though: I'll explain everything to you during the session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

-Join the Discord. Introduce yourself in the #reception-hall. -Join the Foundry page. Review the characters. -Discuss with the group which characters you are interested in playing prior to the one-shot.

What Enigmaze brings to the table

-A fun, inclusive, and safe introduction to Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition! -Foundry for streamlining of the rules and resolution mechanics of the game, as well as for some key visuals. -Ambience for setting the stage and adding atmosphere to the game.

Homebrew rules

We will be using a WoD V5-style "cinematic" approach for combat rather than the initiative system listed in the core rulebook.
