About the adventure
Do you want to experience the Curse of Strahd with a good balancing between combat and storytelling? Do you want to explore the dark gothic horror theme with high stakes? Let's take a look at that neck, shall we. If you are looking for... - a long campaign with a dark atmosphere - combat played using Foundry VTT with battle maps - role-playing and storytelling with other PCs and NPCs - a DM that is not shutting you down ...you have come to the right place my friend. What is Curse of Strahd? Curse of Strahd is one of the most famous pre-written D&D adventures of all time and it is nearly as old as the game itself! Curse of Strahd is a long campaign with a clear goal: Escape the secluded valley of Barovia by defeating the vampire lord Strahd von Zarovich. What is Sanguine Edition? I have made some tweaks to the story to make it more player-driven and compelling. I have run the full campaign to four different groups before, all enjoying it. The story has many layers and your backstory will be weaved into it to give it a personal touch for you. What to expect? CoS is a long gothic horror campaign, with a dark atmosphere. Death, undead, vampires, blood & gore, loss, sorrow, sadness, oppression, cruelty, hopelessness, sadism and lack of light should be expected. However, there is something beautiful and romantic in the story, something that makes this the greatest adventure of all time. Creating your character
At the beginning of the campaign, all the players create a 3rd level character using the D&D 5e 2024 rules. If you join the campaign later, the character level and equipment are adjusted so that you will be equal with the others. The character creation happens on D&D Beyond. I have a very clear video on how to create your character and all the information will be provided to you, so that you can begin the creative process on your own. In other words, we will not create the characters together, unless you specifically ask for that 😇 Part of the character creation is also writing a small backstory that will tie your character to the campaign on a more personal level, but this doesn't have to be too long if you prefer it that way.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
When you join the game, you will receive an email with instructions on how to proceed. Following the instructions, please join my Discord server and create your character. 😎 For the games you need: - A good computer/laptop and an internet connection. 💻 - A headset or similar for hearing and talking. 🎧 - Discord installed and working. 👾 - D&D Beyond account. 🐲 We will use Foundry VTT for the games, and I use Molten Hosting as server host, but this doesn't require any preparations from you. 😇
What GM Jane brings to the table
I will share the 2024 rule books with you in D&D Beyond and provide the licensed version of Foundry VTT where the gameplay happens. Other than this, you get to enjoy the immersive storytelling and voice acting (supported with beautiful art, inspiring battle maps, captivating music and ambience) of yours truly. I have a vast knowledge of the rules, which I aim to honor. I also cherish an inclusive atmosphere, so that all can feel welcome. Overall, you can expect a lot of fun with like-minded people, immersive fantasy and an intriguing story that feels personal, tactical/crunchy battles that I will not let come to a halt, and unforgettable moments. 💫 We take a break of 10 minutes roughly midway of each session.
