About the adventure

Vampire: The Dark Ages is a game of personal horror, where undead vampires, the descendants of Caine, rule the night, and various lineages, known as clans, vie for power and the control of mortals from the shadows as they struggle to contain the Beast within. Sent by their sires and a group of elder vampires, the player characters are neonate vampires sent into the wilds of Transylvania and tasked with building a fortress in Tihuta Pass, but there are dark forces working against them, and all is not entirely as it would seem... The Transylvania Chronicles is an adventure series stretching centuries, seeing the player characters potentially becoming rulers of their own Transylvanian domains and taking part in major events in Cainite history as they work to resolve their own roles in a prophesy about the End Times. The first series takes the characters from the end of the 12th century to the beginnings of the Anarch Revolt and the destruction of the Antediluvian founder of the Tzimisce vampire clan. I ran this chronicle when it was first published for a group of friends and family and it is, in my opinion, the best World of Darkness pre-published adventure I've ever encountered. The full series gives players the opportunity to take their characters from 12th century neonate vampires to 800-year-old elders, participating in historic events along the way. Players can choose to play out just the first series, or continue through the entire 800 years of Cainite history, taking part in major historical and vampiric lore events.

About me

Hi! I'm a writer and published journalist who's been GMing for over 30 years. I first began roleplaying and running games in high school, but my experience really took off in college in the 1990s, when I was introduced to the World of Darkness game setting. I've run one-shot games at conventions and I served as gaming room director for Jersey Devil Con 3 in 2003.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players can create their characters on their own, subject to Storyteller approval. I will also be available to help create characters by scheduling one-on-one sessions on my Discord channel or during Session 0. Pre-generated characters are also available, or players may use character templates from the Libellus Sanguinis books, subject to Storyteller approval.

What Jamie brings to the table

I'll provide NPC voices and historical background. I have a lot of research material already prepared from having run this chronicle before. I try to streamline combat as much as possible to keep the story moving. I embrace the Rule of Cool - if you think you can do it, try it!

Homebrew rules

I use the Linguistics is a Knowledge not a Merit rule from previous editions. Characters will get 20 freebie points to start.

Safety

How Jamie creates a safe table

Safety is a priority in my games. Especially in Vampire games. We'll talk about Lines and Veils during Session 0. Players are encouraged to message me or hold up X, N, or O cards to signal the need for changes or pauses in the story. I'm always available before or after to discuss issues that arise.
