About the adventure

You are not heroes; you toil in the shadow of powers greater than anything you could ever hope to become. For your level 0 characters, every challenge presents the ultimate risk: a chance of death. But that's what makes their failures so funny, and their successes worth celebrating. Characters in Dungeon Crawl Classics are randomly generated, but the true final step in character creation is called "The Funnel": a chance for your simple villagers to discover who they are by testing their mettle against danger. By the time we finish, we'll have written your character's backstory through play, and hopefully come up with a few running jokes as well. If their story ends there, or if they continue on in a campaign, that's for you to decide.

About me

Heyo future players, my name is Dylan. Being a GM combines so many things I love: writing, art, music, voice acting, game design, strategy... I started off with a few friends in my dining room and a started adventure for 4th edition D&D, and have been growing as a GM ever since. I'm constantly studying game mastering techniques, experimenting with new systems, and reading about different kinds of worlds and settings to give myself a wealth of inspiration to draw from. I want your adventure to be unforgettable, and I want it to be ours--something everyone involved contributed a part of themselves to. If you have a passion, I have a world for you to immerse yourself in. Hop in and let's get going already, we've got a world to save. Or destroy. Your choice. I love learning new systems and games. If you find a system you think I'd be interested in, I will probably be happy to run it for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation in DCC is fast, easy, and requires no prep. The most important step in character creation is discovering who they are by playing them.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring your thirst for adventure and your excitement to see what terrible fates befall your hapless villagers. Ensure you have a working setup for Discord, as we'll be using it for voice chat (webcam highly encouraged). You'll also need a desktop or laptop with a browser to enter my Foundry virtual tabletop. Lines and Veils: think about what, if anything, content-wise would stop you from having fun during the game. Is describing it the only problem, or do you not want it mentioned at all? You'll have a chance to tell me so we can avoid them. And of course, if you like reading rules, DCC has free quickstart rules to peruse: https://goodman-games.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DCC_QSR_Free.pdf

What Myrm brings to the table

I like to use the rules as a foundation, but I'll bend or add to them when we find something that inspires fun. The game should be about everyone at the table discovering a compelling story together, whether that story was envisioned by the author or not. I'm a fan of doing voices and playing music for immersion, and I often like to take a cinematic perspective, but most of all I love exploring the unexpected. Your craziest ideas are why I keep running the game.

How Myrm creates a safe table

I use a quick version of Lines and Veils, and we'll have an X card at the virtual table to handle anything in-the-moment. We will take a short break at a convenient time during, but you are of course free to step away if you need to. I also like to use Stars and Wishes post-session.
