About the adventure
Horizons of the Vast is a new level 1-13 Starfinder 1st edition adventure path with unprecedented freedom. This is a brand-new beginner friendly campaign, but expert players can still expect a challenge. Explore the savage wilderness and establish a brand new settlement on an unexplored planet. This adventure was heavily inspired by Pathfinder's "Kingmaker". As part of a massive effort to explore and develop an uninhabited world full of valuable resources, the heroes are placed in control of a settlement and must deal with challenges from both within and without. Far from home, can you establish a thriving community and survive the uncharted system’s terrible secrets and mysteries? Your session 0 choices will greatly define your gameplay style and the type of campaign we play. Will you represent the Xenowardens on a mission to preserve and protect the local wildlife, or will you work for a megacorporation that seeks to maximize profit? We play the game RAW but you are welcome to use 3rd party character options with approval by the GM. We will be playing with the following variant rules: • Specialized Uses for Resolve Points. This variant rule from Starfinder Enhanced gives players more options to spend their resolve points on. This rule is completely optional, characters who ignore it will fare just fine. • Alternate DCs for combat maneuvers. Starfinder's default KAC+8 makes the DC for maneuvers punishingly high. The default DC for combat maneuvers will be the enemy's KAC which encourages more diverse tactics than just dealing damage. • Scaling 0-level spells. This variant rule from Galactic Magic ensures that spellcasters always have reliable magic to damage their foes. Game details: • Sandbox adventure with player-driven choices and consequences. • Animated spells & weather effects. • High-resolution maps and tokens. • Voice acting for NPCs. • Ambient soundscapes and music. • Hosted on Roll20 for gameplay, Discord for voice chat. Webcam optional. • Standard Starfinder ruleset. All official books welcome. • Discord used to chat with group members in between sessions. • Newcomers are welcome to join at any point during the adventure. • Roll20 compendium access to books. How David Lindsay creates a safe table
We will use a number of safety tools like the X card to ensure a fun environment for all kinds of players. This adventure features fantasy violence, and may contain themes of drug/alcohol use and romance. We will have tools to "fade to black" or "fast forward" if anybody is uncomfortable at any point, and will have a brief session 0 before we jump into the action.
