About the adventure

This is a friendly and safe space for neuro-divergent and LGBTQ+ This game has a player facing portal where you can keep session notes, character stuff, and generally explore the world of Athas anytime you like: https://www.legendkeeper.com/app/cmkrmnil08azv0jo1hax26vuq I'm looking for players who are interested in live streaming this campaign on my youtube channel. Free Session 0 Game Description: The Sorcerer-King Kalak has fallen. His ziggurat still looms over Tyr, stained with blood and half-finished magic. The chains are broken, but freedom has teeth. Templars scramble for power. Merchant houses circle like vultures. The desert waits, patient and cruel. You begin at 3rd level in the smoking aftermath of revolution. You are not heroes yet. You are survivors of a world that devours the weak. This campaign is set in the world of The Prism Pentad by Troy Denning, beginning immediately after the events of The Verdant Passage. Over the course of play, your characters will rise from the chaos of Tyr to challenge the Sorcerer-Kings themselves, confront Borys, and ultimately face the First Sorcerer, Rajaat. This is a full epic campaign, spanning levels 3–20. The stakes escalate from street survival and political intrigue to world-shaping myth. What Makes This Different: This is not Forgotten Realms. Athas is a dying world. Magic scars the land. Water is treasure. Steel is rare. Psionics are common. The gods are gone. Hope is dangerous. Expect: • Reworked species and classes to fit Athas • Harsh survival mechanics • Defiling and preserving magic with real consequences • Powerful psionics woven into everyday life • Moral choices that shape the future of the world Victory is not clean. Power always costs something. If you want a high-powered heroic fantasy where magic is safe and resurrection is easy, this is not that game. If you want to start as a nobody in the ashes of a fallen tyrant and end as the force that reshapes a broken world, you’re in the right place. Bring grit. Bring ambition. Bring water.

About me

Hello! My name is David (Evil Penguin). I've been playing D&D since 1985 with the original red box, i.e. I'm old. I went to college for creative writing. Then got a job in the film industry. So, I've pretty much built my whole life around the creative pursuits. Which makes me well suited for telling stories... my sessions that I have vary in type, but I try to mix elements of the big three: role-playing, exploration, and combat. Players will have an opportunity to at each of these at various times throughout a game. My general philosophy is that I, as a DM, have more fun when my players are having fun. Therefore, I try my best to give everyone at the table a chance to be the hero/anti-hero. Giving everyone a chance to shine... not just the OP fighter who min/maxed to be a killing machine... but also to the bard who just doesn't do that much in combat because their too busy talking their way out of most potentially hostile encounters. If you really want to get a sense of my GMing style, you can check out my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@EvilPenguinRPG New players to experienced are welcomed. I believe in a diverse, LGBTQ+ friendly, and INCLUSIVE table. If you are a nazi, racist, homophobe, transphobe, or any other sort of bigot, please stay away from my table. I have a zero tolerance policy for that at my table. Any of that and you will be dropped immediately. If you have to ask whether this statement is about you, it is.

Safety

How EvilPenguin creates a safe table

Safety is my number one concern, especially with a setting such as this. Dark Sun is a brutal world with some very dark themes, including: slavery, cannibalism, and horrific cruelty for the sake of cruelty (among other things). That being said, characters are expected to fight against this system of oppression and never be aligned with it. That's not the game I want to run. We will implement several safety measures: • Session 0, we'll go over all the themes of Dark Sun • I have an open door policy. You can bring up ANY concerns you have at any time, in private or publicly in the group. • I'll be sending out a campaign start form that where you will be able to tell me your lines and veils, privately. • During sessions, you can use X, N, & O's either in private or public chat or verbally to notify me of boundaries. I will either stop the scene so we can discuss or fade to black.
