About the adventure

Jump into an original world where you as players will shape the fates of whole continents. Explore a vast array of mysteries both short term and ones that are the backbone of the campaign. If you like roleplaying that matters, this game is for you. This campaign is a coming of age story placing you in the role of bright eyed civilian young adults now presented with a destiny once promised to another. You and your soon to be party have individually ventured to the Kingdom of Pyritelite. Every year this kingdom holds their famous Festival of Lathander, for their patron deity. This years festival is hoped to be the greatest in many decades since a special ceremony is set to take place. Sir Leonidas of Faithfell Keep, the Chosen Hero, one trained from an early age to fulfill the prophecy and save the land from darkness. He's to draw the Sword of Lathander from it's glass casing and lift it to the sky, announcing to the world that he will now be its savior. Only that is not what ends up happening, no instead as he holds the sword aloft, it shatters into many pieces, those shards floating through the air land into your hands, transforming into a weapon fit for your unique abilities. Looking around, you notice a handful of others receiving these shards. You look up to see the shocked face of the Chosen Hero, the man you've stolen destiny from, right out of his grasp. You turn your gaze to watch the King desperately trying to save face after this unexpected event. The King commands everyone who received a shard to join him on stage, he hails you as the new Chosen, within minutes of banishing the former Chosen One. You are to stay at his castle, receive the best of accommodations, food, and training as you learn to accept your role as prophesied heroes. A year passes and our journey truly starts. Your time as honored guests in the castle has changed you, you have gotten stronger, have made connections and have come to realize that some of the prominent staff hold deep seated mysteries and secrets close to their chest. You'll find out quickly during your adventure that this prophesy goes deeper than anyone has thought, that you alone as Chosen might not even be enough to handle what fate has in store for you _ This game will include new and exciting mechanics to enhance the story and combat including a way to track influence. You and your party will start the journey alone but it does not have to stay that way. You'll find many opportunities to sway the citizens of this world to your cause or to make them tremble in fear of you. Gather enough influential voices on your side and you'll be able to convince whole nations to side with you, potentially giving you access to armies to command at your disposal. This adventure promises roleplay that actually matters, often more than the rolls themselves. What you do and what you say will have ripple effects. Your characters hold fate in their hands, but for ruin or salvation, only time will tell.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before session 0, session 0 will offer players a chance to get to know the world and the other players while exploring some early mysteries set in the castle. Prior to this I have time at request to sit down on calls to assist my players in creating their characters. If you do not require assistance you are free to make your character on your own. All official books are welcome, stats are rolled using the method of 4d4 drop the lowest. You'll be able to roll two sets and take the set you prefer, two re rolls are allowed with your chosen set. Characters will be created on roll 20, the link will be provided to you. The starting level is 3, no limit to race, but the theme of the campaign is a coming of age story so your character should be a young adult.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I have a server on Discord that I will share once you join the game through direct message. The game will be played on Roll20 so it is beneficial to have an account prior to the game's start date. There is nothing else you need to prepare but if you have questions I will always reply when I am able to do so.

What Aaron brings to the table

As a DM I like to implement Rule of Cool when appropriate and if there is a unanimous vote from the table to go forward with a certain action or rule change. I like to implement voices to the best of my ability with my somewhat limited vocal range. I like to play a good number of NPCs as complex dynamic characters that can even join along and some can even be romanced by a member of the party if they so choose. I am a very reachable DM who enjoys catering to a lot of the wants of my players within reason. In between sessions if a player needs clarification on certain events in the previous session or wishes to discuss aspects of the game, I have my messages always open. Depending on my availability I might be available for calls as well. Art is a passion of mine and I always try to add some of my own art when I can, this will sometimes include even art of the player characters with consent from the player. I find it nice at the end of campaigns to create a piece of art featuring the party as a keepsake to remember your adventure by.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules are something I prefer to discuss as a group while going over general rules and limits. I have found success with certain rules such as using potions as a bonus action but it completely depends on the wants and needs of the table.

Safety

How Aaron creates a safe table

Safety is very important to me in DnD and I always want to take steps to assure players can enjoy the game without feeling unsafe. I like to establish safety tools in different ways. First being by private message. If you do not wish to share in the group your limits but still wish for me not to include certain things, you can message me privately I will do my best to accommodate your request. The second being within the group, all of my session 0s start out by going over rules, guidelines, lines and veils. If at any point these rules are disrespected by a player I will take the appropriate action in that scenario whether it is a gentle reminder or in the worst case and with repeated warnings, I will remove the problem player. I am happy to incorporate breaks when people need them and I will gladly recap anything missed if a person wants to step away for longer.
