About the adventure
From Torm's holy city of Elturel you'll solve murders in Baldur's Gate, dive arcane depths in the great library of Candlekeep, and take on the very forces of evil itself right in the heart of the 9 Hells. You and your allies are the center of this story. We'll work together to make sure your story is told in the context of a remixed version Descent into Avernus and then move the action into the fan made sequel Chains of Asmodeus, the spiritual successor to Avernus. All remixed to create a cohesive narrative that centers on your character.

About me
Guys, gals, and non-binary pals welcome! I'm Sean and this is my tavern. Join me for a pint of your favorite liquid refreshment and let's roll some dice together! All are welcome to safely be themselves at my purposefully inclusive tables. I've been playing and running games since the late 80's or early 90's (it's fuzzy back that far!) And have run everything from intimate table games, to con games, to 100+ person Vampire LARP's. The whole time doing my best to make the games about my players and their stories. I have over 5000 hours running games in Roll20 and spent 4 years streaming multiple weekly games. This gives me a strong understanding of how to bring you an immersive experience using super cool tools. I'm a fool for sound, setting and theme so I work with high quality maps including from Czepeku's amazing collection, bespoke soundscapes using Bardic Tools & KenkuFM, and of course, leveraging all the bells and whistles Foundry & Roll20 have to offer. So join me, if you will, and let's tell a tale around the table together.

Creating your character
Most of character creation will happen at the session 0 so you can also learn the Foundry VTT interface if you haven't played with it yet. But, you should totally feel free to sketch out your character before hand. All classes and options in the 2024 Players Handbook, Descent into Avernus, and Heroes of Faerun are available. Artificer from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is also available. Two additional backgrounds - Hellrider and Order of the Gauntlet will be available at character creation as well. You'll be starting at level 1 and using the standard array for your character stats.

What Sean | Throck's Tavern brings to the table
You will be provided with ample background information for the campaign and I will dedicate my time to helping you figure out your character prior to game. I love using music and ambient effects in my games along with voices, accents and other nonsense. I'm a roleplayer at heart and while we don't need to go so deep as Critical Role goes in scene by scene roleplaying I do love some character growth and drama and those small moments that connect you with your character.
Homebrew rules
While I generally stick to rules as written cool moments deserve to be rewarded and I'll generally give out bonuses or inspiration for awesome stuff. There are a few small nudges I give to the rules - notably you only get 2 short rests per day and I tend to be more narrative in my approach to social interactions. The one big thing I add in is a Dungeon Turn in larger dungeon crawls, this adds tension and immediacy to the dungeon that doesn't natively exist in D&D

Safety
How Sean | Throck's Tavern creates a safe table
First and foremost - this is an inclusive safe table. As a queer man I do my best to ensure my spaces are safe and welcoming for LGBTQAI+ folks and persons of color. We'll go over the full suite of safety tools in session 0 but the quick rundown is: Use of a RPG Consent Form survey X, O, N cards in game Breaks in game Debrief and Stars and Wishes after game. I always keep an open door policy.
