About the adventure
You are all residents of Carson’s Folly, and good friends. This early March morning is bright and crisp as the town shakes off the night. Fires are stoked, coffee is brewed, and hammering, clanging, and the whinny of horses fill the air. But today there is a somber mood over the town, for Pedro Lopez is to be buried. Pedro was a Cibolero—a Mexican buffalo hunter—and your friend. He knew, and kept to, the unspoken rule that no hunter operating out of Carson’s Folly hunts more than their fair share, to preserve the buffalo herds. But that was before the folk from Santa Fe arrived, from a big company called the New Mexico Mercantile Cooperative, under their boss, Garrett Pemberton. They don’t care about preserving the herds—they just want to kill as many buffalo as they can, for the money their hides will fetch. And now Pedro is dead. Tales of the Old West is based on the Year Zero Engine system used in many Free League Publishing games. The game uses a pool of 6 sided dice to determine the outcome of actions and the game is easy to pick up and start playing.
