About Sir Beef
Playing since 1986 during 5th Grade recess and haven't looked back! I enjoy watching the stories grow and have many fond memories from decades of playing. For me, the journey of discovery is what makes roleplaying such a rewarding hobby!

I got started GMing...
in the mid 1980's because none of my friends owned the books!
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Cypher System because it's so easy I could teach a crab how to play it. Dragonbane because I love skill-based advancement and this scratches my fantasy itch perfectly. Call of Cthulhu because I need something to track my sanity while on a deserted island.
How Sir Beef runs games
I love Theater of the Mind! Moving pieces on a map can be an aid, but I don't want it to be a crutch. I am 100% behind the Rule of Cool. If it sounds fun and amazing, let's do it! I like rules, all games need 'em, but years from now we will talk about that amazing thing that happened, not the rule that governed it!

Rules are...
the skeleton upon which the game moves and functions. But they aren't universal truths. The story comes first.
When it comes to voices
all of my NPCs eventually sound like a drunk Australian
Sir Beef's ideal table
I like a diverse table! I like a light-hearted approach to role-playing your character. Have a voice? use it! Don't have one? No problem! What I don't want is dramatic voice acting instead of an interesting story. Some drama is ok! But let's put the spotlight on US.

I think min/maxing...
has a place in roleplaying. Just not at my table! It is FAR more interesting and fun to play a flawed character that overcomes challenges!
My table is not the place for...
profane and vulgar cussin'. Fear not, I held the flashlight as a child for my mechanic father, I know all the words, trust me! But my table is a place where we all come together. Let's keep it fun and decent for everyone.
