About the adventure

You were always powerless. Always acted upon, never able to act. You now have the chance to change all that. A dwarf and a Gnome needs you and your fellow adventurers' help getting an artefact that can make unique magic items. If you help their expedition find success they'll use the artefact to make one magic item of your hearts desire. THEN you'll have the power to impose your will on the world not the other way around. In this Level 1-5 adventurer you'll dive into ancient ruins to seek out this artefact, gain your unique magic item by level 3, and spend levels 4 and 5 having that item level up with you as you and your party contend with cunning goblins, ruthless orcs, and mysterious shadow elves who will fight you every step of the way to secure it for themselves. You'll have to defeat the leaders of each group to complete the adventure; do you build your own stronghold and raise an army to meet theirs? Do you find their lairs and assassinate... I mean kill their leaders in honourable combat? That's your choice. If you enjoy games with lots of combat and roleplay, exploring ruins, and creating and upgrading unique magic items. You'll have fun in this adventure.

About me

I run games where players of all experience levels, but especially beginners, can fight epic battles, explore, learn, and enjoy great stories together. My sessions are designed to be welcoming, collaborative, and easy to step into. I handle the pacing, rules guidance, and game organisation so you can focus on playing your character and having fun. Whether you’re trying D&D for the first time or returning after a long break, you’ll be supported every step of the way. I’ve been running tabletop RPGs for over a decade I've run games for many diverse groups of players no two games have ever been exactly the same but both player and GM have enjoyed them all! My games are inclusive, reliable, respectful, and structured to give every player space to contribute to the game and feel comfortable in the group. I primarily run Dungeons & Dragons 5e, with additional experience in Daggerheart and Draw Steel. My goal is always the same: create an engaging, friendly environment where players can experiment, be creative, and enjoy memorable adventures together.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create characters together at our first session (referred to as a session 0). Players can choose whether they would like to use a pre-made characters that I'll provide. Or you can just jump in or make a custom character after learning more about the world and their potential options.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use discord for communication and Roll20 to play D&D 5E. Players will need accounts with both to be able to play. Links will be sent out to the players via start playing dm when the minimum player count is met. But if you have any questions or concerns you are more than welcome to ask.

What Matt brings to the table

-Tactical cinematic combat with cunning foes that provide a deadly challenge, the most fun kind in my opinion. -Role play encounters that give space for quirky fun or dramatic and serious moments as the circumstances call for. -The chance for your character to impact the world by creating their own strongholds and unique magic items, tailored to their own personal story.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action. Critical hits- Inflict max damage then roll additional damage dice. In addition to action, bonus action, reaction and movement, players gain a "skill check action" where they can gain advantages in combat: insight into an enemies weakness, do some impressive feat of strength or acrobatics to overcome terrain obstacles, or help aid an ally in their actions. Supplemental rulebooks- Flee, Mortals! the MCDM monster book. As well as Strongholds & Followers for optional rules on followers and creating bases for players that want to engage in the fantasy of building their characters own HQ and followers. A wizard? why not build a wizard tower. A fighter? Well I also dreamed of making a castle so lets rules that let you do that!
