About the adventure
You’re invited into Muckbottom Marsh as they prepare for its very first Femilight celebration: a holiday of affection they’ve only heard about. When their beloved courier, Pip Quickstep, vanishes along the route to deliver Femilight Sweets, you’re asked to follow the trail and bring them home. What begins as a simple retrieval quickly reveals stranger signs: claw‑ripped gift boxes floating in the reeds, and an alligator stirred up by something far more unusual than early floodwaters. As you push deeper into the marsh, you’ll navigate unstable boardwalks and negotiate with (or fight off) Old Miremaw the alligator. Rescuing Pip means unraveling how he was prevented from delivering the treats, and returning to Muckbottom in time to salvage the holiday. Along the way, you’ll learn the rhythms of Daggerheart while helping a marsh community discover what Femilight truly means.

About me
I’m an ’80s kid who somehow grew up when I wasn’t looking. I’ve always been a big nerd at heart, but I didn’t discover TTRPGs until my husband introduced me to Critical Role and ran a game for me and our daughter in 2024. I fell hard for D&D. Before long, I was joining local Discord groups, driving to strangers’ houses to play every system I could find, and feeling more like a college kid on an adventure than a frumpy mom in her 40s. Sitting down with people I’d never have approached in everyday life- and immediately going on a quest together- was exhilarating. I was hooked. When Daggerheart released, I devoured the core rules and knew I didn’t want to wait for someone else to run it. I stepped up to GM. Now I run a Daggerheart campaign for my family and host D&D one-shots for “Nerds Night Out” at my local brewery. After playing The Sablewood Messengers with Rob Duke, I joined the Saga Forge community and felt inspired to bring my games to a wider audience online. I love roleplaying, spotlighting my players, and celebrating every twist and turn I never saw coming. I’m a huge fan of my players, and I want every table to feel welcoming, collaborative, and full of wonder. Let’s play!

Creating your character
Optional Character Creation Workshop: Tuesday 2/24 @ 7 pm on the Saga Forge Discord. Anyone who wants to can attend and get step-by-step help creating a Daggerheart character. Please read the Neighbors and Strangers character guide below, and make a level 1 character on Demiplane. Or if you prefer, I will have pre-generated characters available. Message me on the Discord Server with a Class or type of character you'd like to play, and I'll send you a character that fits. :) NEIGHBORS AND STRANGERS Muckbottom Marsh draws people who know how to live with uncertainty. Halflings, Ribbets, Galapa, and Goblins make up the bulk of the population—folk accustomed to mud underfoot, shifting routes, and work that changes with the water. They build what lasts, share what keeps others alive, and rarely ask who someone was before they arrived. Others come less often, usually with reasons they don’t share. Humans, Orcs, Firbolg, and Sha’tani appear from time to time, often trying to start over or stay out of sight. They’re noticed and left alone unless they cause trouble. In Muckbottom, being new isn’t a problem—it’s just a temporary state. Some folk stand out no matter how quietly they move. Bearkin, Dwarves, Elves, Faeries, and Katari are rare in the marsh, and their presence is remembered even if it goes unmentioned. Not because they’re unwelcome, but because Muckbottom is hard on those not shaped for water and humidity—and the marsh has a way of testing everyone eventually.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Join The Saga Forge Discord Here: https://discord.gg/2TqsxFwtEP, and I (or another Mod) will add you to the "Crazy, Stupid, Swamp Magic" channel for this event. There, you can meet your fellow adventurers and start talking through character creation. Please make a Level 1 character on Demiplane following the character creation parameters above. Reach out on Discord if you have any questions or would like to look at our homebrew Ancestries. I will send out a Google Meet invite right before the game for video and audio.
What Carol brings to the table
I'll give everyone a run-through of Foundry (the VTT) and the rules of Daggerheart. We'll get you started quickly and learn as we play! Bring your questions and don't be shy. I will set the tone and bring the ENERGY. Let's be silly together. :)
Homebrew rules
There are no Drakana or Fungril in this world at this time. Infernis /Tieflings have been reimagined as the Sha’itani—inspired more by the Qunari of Dragon Age than demonic heritage. We have some homebrew Ancestries available on request.
