About the adventure

You arrived in the small town of Colpost to find the place eerily quiet. In the local tavern, you learn of a string of recent attacks that has the townsfolk nervous and afraid. Money can be made, and lives can be saved, if you can discover the reason the wilderness has shown its teeth. This game is airships, shard pistols, fireballs, dragons, floating islands, and pirate kings. Floating ship graveyards in the aether. Mechanized golems and arcanicraft races. Magic vs. technology. Gods vs. mortals. Ancient, magical civilizations transformed. Elven shardslingers. Rebel druids vs. Imperial inquisitors. Angry fey. Dwarven mines belching black clouds from the depths. Mad Gnomish tinkers, weird and wonderful gadgets, and demons at the fringes.

About me

I’ve spent years behind the GM screen, crafting narratives that blend deep strategy with immersive storytelling. My passion lies in complex world-building—specifically, my long-running homebrew setting, Aeranos, where Celtic fantasy meets steampunk aesthetics. I bring a designer's eye to my tables, hand-crafting maps and writing original fiction to deepen the lore. While I have extensive experience with D&D 5e (and a multitude of systems throughout the years), I’m currently enjoying a deep dive into the mechanics of the DC20 system. I’m here to connect with others who appreciate the art of the campaign, from high-level architecture to the nitty-gritty of rule systems, but I like to use the mechanics to set the stage, then get out of the way to let the drama unfold. That's not to say we don't like to joke and laugh around the table, virtual or otherwise. It's more to point out that I love a good tale, and want to play with like-minded gamers.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll have a short, free Session 0, where we make introductions, discuss character creation, and go over party makeup. I have final say on what is and isn't allowed. Stay to the rules as written, and the main books and supplements, and we should be good. I have a set of premade characters if anyone wants to jump right in.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a Discord account and a working mic (camera optional). We will be using Foundry, but you don't have to have anything but the link I send and enough bandwidth.

What Kevin Dawson brings to the table

I bring years of GMing experience, voices, art, maps, and a detailed world. You bring the desire to have a good time and create an engaging story with me. Most sessions have at least one combat scenario, but sometimes the RP takes over, and that's okay. I am fluent with the system, but inevitably, we will need to examine the rules on occasion. Most of the time, I'm happy with quick rulings and then check the details later.

Safety

How Kevin Dawson creates a safe table

My games will be fully inclusive. The only feuds and arguments should be among the characters and NPCs. Unless agreed to by all, any inter-party conflicts should be avoided (this generally means no evil characters). In 18+ groups, subject matter can get dark, but rarely disturbing and never gratuitous. X-Card rules apply and can be texted or held up on camera. Rewind and Fade to Black is always an option. Concerns not immediately flagged can be communicated privately in Aftercare. My Game Content warnings may seem excessive, but I prefer my villains to be truly villainous. I am more than happy to follow the preferences of the group and shy away from any topics we deem to be off-limits.
