About the adventure
You are from the village of Pinebrook, a small settlement near the base of a mountain range. The citizens of Pinebrook take turns patrolling the forest and hills around the village. Today, it’s your turn to patrol the forest with some of your friends. Dangerous creatures sometimes wander the woods, rumors have spread that a friendly silver dragon recently established a lair in the nearest mountain. Yesterday, a patrol saw large, frosty troll footprints in the forest. Could the rumors of a friendly silver dragon be just rumors after all? [[Beginner & LGBTQIA2S+ Friendly]] I am an easy-going GM who loves to laugh, roleplay, be silly, make a fool of myself, and create fun adventures with twists and turns based on player choices. Are you new to D&D, curious about D&D but timid to try it? This adventure is made for you with simplified rules of the game. Get a feel for what the game is and decide if D&D is a hobby you want to continue. Be a kid again and play make-believe with cooperative storytelling, some combat, and a lot of laughs! Feel free to send me a personal message if you want to schedule an adventure currently not on my schedule.

About me
For the last six years, I have been DM'ing 5e for family and friends. Before that I played and DM'd other editions since the days of AD&D. I have always had a flair for the dramatic and been involved in theatrical productions since childhood. I enjoy the collaborative storytelling of D&D, adventures tailored for a small group with no audience just a group of friends old and new. I've recently started playing at a local gaming store, and I'm enjoying the challenges of new and experienced players. The friendships built around RPGs are unique and rewarding. I still share inside jokes with players through the decades.

Creating your character
We will use a simplified 5e 2024 rule set for adventure, characters and monsters. I will provide you with premade condensed characters at the session. If you want to hang out after the session, I will guide you through how to make your own characters for future adventures.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
For this adventure we will use Discord, and I will send you a link to my FoundryVTT server.
What Bettina brings to the table
I'm silly, I've been known to do character voices, ambiance music or sounds, and strange music choices during combat. I will use basic rules and game mechanics to help to tell our story. I'm all about "Rule of Cool", generally if you want to do something unusual, silly, or stupid, unless it will totally break our fun or the game, I'll allow it.

How Bettina creates a safe table
Within the virtual table top (VTT) there is a set of icons that provide quick access for you to alert me of potential issues. These tools are meant to help you communicate safely with me about what you do, and do not like. The player who pressed a button is not revealed, not even to the DM with the exception of a "Raise Hand". “Pause” will alert me that someone would like the game and narration to be paused. For example you need a break, or that you want to speak with me in private at the earliest convenience possible. “Hard stop” is designed to work practically identically to the "X Card" from the TTRPG Safety Toolkit. When pressed, it will alert me that someone has requested a "scene / situation hard stop". "Raise Hand" will let all players know "Another player would like the chance to speak.", without revealing the player that pressed it, and makes it incredibly easy to navigate a conversation in a way to help that player get to speak, especially in parties with one or two very talkative players. “Fast-Forward“ will alert me that you'd like this particular scenario to be skipped. This can easily be used for a "fade-to-black" moment.
