About the adventure

"A powerful and wealthy baron is hosting a grand Ball by the end of this week. His esteemed guests will arrive expecting a genuine jungle theme to be present. The baron will settle for nothing less than authentic and thus has hired a group of adventurers to set out in search of such natural rarities. An island nearby the city dubbed "the island of Hukttee" is home to numerous walks of life and bountiful foliage, each deadly in their own right. You have been hired and tasked to travel to this island and return with a laundry list of decorative luxuries." This is a fast paced, time limited one-shot. You land on Hukttee Island with three in-game days, and a list of dangerous targets. Bigger risks are worth more rewards. The game is built like a score run. You choose how to spend each day: Hunt something valuable, explore for supplies or shelter, or rest and burn time to stay alive. Resting works like normal, but the games clock keeps moving. When the days are gone and extraction arrives, you're done. Combat is swift and deadly, but you don't always have to fight things head on. Traps, ambushes, distractions, and smart planning count. This one-shot is a time pressure, resource management, forcing you to make tough calls. Pre-made characters will be provided so we can dive right into play! There's a clear ending and bragging rights for a clean run. If you want a chill story, this isn't it... If you want a tight, fast paced challenge where every choice matters, then you'll have a good time here!

About me

(Booking availability: Weekends only. Systems: 5e 2014, Pathfinder 1e, Vampire the masquerade 1st or 2nd. Mage the awakening 2e.) I have over 17 years of experience with D&D and other tabletop RPGs, and I’ve spent more time as a DM than as a player(forever DM). I love building worlds and bringing them to life! I hand-make my own battle maps from foam and add extra flair to my sessions with props, music, and sound boards. I’ve also acted at the renaissance festival for 10 years, so I’m no stranger to improvisation or stepping into character. TTRPGs, and D&D in particular, have been a passion of mine since a young age. It’s always been a big part of my life, and I still get excited every time I sit down at the table. I especially love getting new players involved and watching them come back wanting more! My goal is to make my games interesting enough to draw you in, and freeing enough to let you play the way you want. The point of playing this game is to have fun and share stories with friends old or new. We’re all here for the same reason, so let’s make the best of it!

Character creation

Creating your character

To keep things fast and focused, we’ll be using premade level five characters built for D&D 5e (2014). This one-shot is designed to be fast paced and tactical, with very little downtime. - All characters will be Level 5, built with standard ability scores (using standard array), equipped with appropriate gear, and ready for survival in the jungle. - Characters are designed with a variety of roles and play styles in mind so you’ll be able to pick one that fits how you like to play. - You do not need to bring your own character.

What GM Avrey brings to the table

📖 ───────────────────────────── 🎲 What I’ll Provide You 📖 ───────────────────────────── 💻 We will be playing our games over a video call. 🎥 On my end the camera will be set on a moving arm that is facing a table. 🏰 The table will be set with: 🗺️ Battle mat 🧙‍♂️ Miniatures 🏗️ Custom map pieces and decorations I’ve made 🎬 During the sessions I will move the camera around the battle map to offer: 🔹 Different points of view for tactical planning 🔹 Cinematic effect 🎵 I will accompany the campaign with: 🎶 Music 🔊 Some occasional soundboard use 📜 For the most part we will stick to Rules as Written, but when the rules start to become unrealistic or overly complicated, we will revert to the Rule of Cool. 🎭 When not using the playsets, we will be mostly using the theatre of the mind. 🗣️ I will "attempt" voices and characters, but do not expect a world-class act! 💧 Player comfort: ⏸️ I will make us take water, bathroom, and stretch breaks at least once a session. 🎯 I won’t let dehydration and bad posture ruin our game!

Homebrew rules

⏳ Time Is the Main Resource: - The expedition lasts 3 in-game days - Each day has 24 hours - Actions cost time - Combat does not cost time ⚔️ Actions Per Day: - Each day supports 3 normal actions safely - Regardless of actions taken, after your 3rd action day turns to night. Common actions: 🧭 Explore (2h) 🗡️ Hunt (6h) 🛏️ Short Rest (1h) 💤 Long Rest (8h) After your 3rd action, you may keep acting, this is called Pushing On. 🔥 Pushing On: Each action after your first 3 increases difficulty: - Push 1: +2 to related checks - Push 2: +4 - Push 3+: Very dangerous Applies to exploration, hunting, and fatigue-based checks. You can stop at any time. 🧭 Repeated Exploration (Same Day): Exploring multiple times in one day increases risk: - 1st Explore: DC 15 - 2nd Explore: DC 17 - 3rd Explore: DC 20 (Apply these before Push penalties.) 🌤️ / 🌙 Day & Night: - Day (Hours 0–11): safer - Night (Hours 12–24): riskier Night increases danger, travel difficulty, and rest risk, but does not prevent actions. 🛏️ Resting: - Resting uses normal D&D rules but costs time. - Resting too much limits scoring opportunities - Not resting risks exhaustion and failure - Hidden shelters and supply stashes may reduce rest time. 📜 Loot & Scoring: - Scoring uses a fixed contract list (the Baron’s Ledger) - Targets can be scored Partially or Fully - You do not need to complete everything 🏁 When Day 5 ends, the expedition is over and the score is final. 🧠 What Players Track: Players track: ⏳ Hours spent ⚔️ Actions taken 🔥 Push level 🌤️ / 🌙 Day or Night 📜 Loot claimed 🏆 Current score This information is tracked in a personal tracker I'll send you.
