About me

I've been living in fantasy worlds since I was in middle school and my brother and I began buying D&D AD&D and 3.5e books from our local used bookstore. Although I didn't start playing until high school and didn't start running games until after college I poured over resource books, made characters, crafted encounters, and dreamed up stories of far away lands. I ran the open play store game for the comic shop I worked at after undergrad meaning that flexibility and improv in story telling had to be the first skills I honed. Any amount of players could show up on a given night and allowing for story to be meaningful to those that were at the table was of utmost importance. After my time at the store I took a little break during an out of state move but quickly picked DMing back up once new friends were made. My current group has been together since 2018 and we've journeyed through home brew worlds and adjusted pre-made modules. My free time is spent walking my dog, a Shiba Inu named Aiko, or cuddling with my two Sphynx cats, Giorno and Lisa Lisa. I also dance whenever possible at Book Club Radio in NYC and am hoping to get into a Master's in Theological Studies program at Duke.

Creating your character

A session zero will occur where we'll build characters together, discuss connections to other players, and receive a preview of the world. Fillable character sheets will be provided upon registration along with some key points about Carnivalas that can help with brainstorming how re-skinning 5e classes to this world. What Antoine brings to the table

Immersion is my goal always - Musical cues via Roll20 during game - Images and Maps to assist with immersion - Voices! My strengths lie in improve, rule of cool, and inspired story moments. I aim to improve character driven subplots and personal items/rewards for deeds well done.

Homebrew rules

All classes, skills, magic, items, etc will be re-skinned to fit into the world. Be open to finding out creative ways that the standard descriptions would look like in a Circus planet.

Safety

How Antoine creates a safe table

On the whole I always aim to ensure players feel safe during the beautiful world of collaborative story telling and encourage an Open Door policy to log out or step away should a sudden wave of emotion strike; no questions asked. Session Zero will briefly go over any yellow topics marked in the Monte Cook checklist completed by players prior to the session. During play, I would ask players to type in the chat an X, N, or O should it be necessary for a particular moment. A 15 to 20 minute post game debrief will be held wherein any challenging moments can be discussed, Stars and Wishes are listed, and any need for further debriefing can be scheduled. PRE-GAME The MonteCook RPG checklist will be used prior to session zero - A link to a form fillable pdf is listed below https://mcpl.info/sites/default/files/images/consent-in-gaming-form-fillable-checklist-2019-09-13.pdf IN GAME X, N, and O cards and an Open Door policy POST GAME Stars and Wishes and Debriefing for any challenging moments - A link to a well written blog post by Start Playing Games can be found below detailing the above mentioned systems https://tinyurl.com/yr3bzjfp
