About the adventure
Scum and Villainy is a narrative-first, retro-futuristic sci-fi game set at the frontier edge of a corrupt galaxy. It's the same game system as Blades in the Dark, but with a space opera aesthetic. Think Star Wars, Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Battlestar Galactica, and The Expanse. At this table, your characters don't follow the story, they ARE the story. Explore the way the war still echoes in your spacer pilot's cybernetic implants, the bad dreams that keep your clone doctor up working late, or the longing your xeno mystic feels for their distant home planet. Your crew is under fire and in the spotlight, and the wheels of galactic power keep on turning. It's above your pay grade and out of your league, but the only way out is through, so hit that jumplane to the next rendezvous and hold on tight. Fight, negotiate, and charm your way through uncanny worlds, fought over by a constellation of factions - from the powerful and mysterious to the scrappy and quirky. Dodge cunning crime lords, fanatical Imperial agents, wily rebels, and wrecker pirates - the engines are primed and the cargo is hot. You'll have to punch it, and hope your wits are enough to break atmosphere in one piece.

Hi, I'm Rei! I've been running roleplaying games for about 15 years now. I got my start with Dungeons & Dragons and from there have gotten into all types of tabletop rpgs, with my current favorites being narrative forward, RP-heavy games, and fast and creative rules-medium to rules-lighter games. I enjoy teaching and helping new players and telling immersive stories that give players room to be creative and shape the game world. Creating your character
We'll build your characters, your ship, and your crew's reputation in this corner of the galaxy from the ground up during Session 0. No prep or pre-written backstories are needed. We'll discover the characters and their connections together through conversation at the table. We'll use rules as written from the Scum and Villainy book. You can choose from any of the pre-made playbooks (classes) or work with me to create your own custom playbook.
Current party makeup is a Muscle, a Pilot, a Speaker, and a Stitch.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need access to Discord and a web browser for this game. If you have a copy of Scum and Villainy, it's helpful, but not required. I'll provide access to basic rules and reference sheets.

I run an inclusive table where LGBTQ+, neuro-divergent folk, and POC are welcome and encouraged to join. This is also a beginner-friendly game - if you've never played Scum and Villainy, Blades in the Dark, or even a narrative game - welcome! I'm here to help you learn!
