About the adventure

Boom! When a jailbreak interrupts nightly celebrations in the industrious gnomish city of Hupperdook, people from all walks of life find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. What starts as a simple bounty will slowly unravel a conspiracy that threatens all of Wildemount. Dangerous Designs & Beyond (DD&B) is a campaign set in Critical Role's world of Exandria, predominantly taking place in the continent of Wildemount. The campaign starts in 835 PD during the early stages of the War of Ash and Light, running parallel with the events of Critical Role's Mighty Nein campaign. DD&B will begin with the Dangerous Designs module, which will take players through levels 1-3. Afterwards, the world will then open up into a custom plotline involving a grand conspiracy. The player character's actions and backstory will be given significant weight, allowing the main story to be shaped around them. This campaign will focus heavily on roleplay and political intrigue, so a foundational understanding of Exandria's lore and the major factions of Wildemount will help. While combat will still occur, it will not happen as often, and when it does, it will serve a purpose to the story. What may seem like an offshoot random encounter could impact your journey down the road.

About me

Hey all! I've been GMing for half my life; I'm a big fan of narrative storytelling and have extensive experience running games based on Pathfinder and Powered by the Apocalypse. I favor an approach that focuses on the player characters and integrates their stories into the main plot.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a Discord channel for character concepts and planning. Any finishing touches will be done during Session 0. We will use the 2014 ruleset, and the heroic chronicle from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is optional.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to join the Discord Server and have Roll20 account.

What Ze'ev brings to the table

I will provide a diverse set of NPCs and a living world that is flexible to the player characters. The personal stories of your characters will be interwoven into the world to bring a personal connection to the main plot. Roll20 will provide players with character sheets, an online rolling option, and interactive maps.

Homebrew rules

(Optional) Cinematic Level Ups: The campaign will use milestones; however, if you wish, you may delay implementing your level-up to fit a more story-appropriate moment for your character.

Safety

How Ze'ev creates a safe table

During Session 0, I will review the themes and what to expect in this game, as well as the safety tools being used. I have a link to a lines and veils document, and I use both digitally and messaged X, N, & Os. I also debrief after each session with Highs and Lows. Often, when I run a more intense session, the one that follows will be much lighter, serving as a palate cleanser.
