About the adventure
The Dalelands are a patchwork of proud towns, ancient forests, and forgotten ruins, where danger lurks around every corner. Monsters prowl the roads and dark forces test the borders of every dale. This is a land where no single hero can answer every threat. People have turned to hired blades, wandering heroes, and those willing to risk their lives for coin, glory, or something greater. As you grow in fame and power, so too does the weight of your choices. With an old enemy once more threatening the realm, the line between hired blades and true heroes will begin to blur. Whatever path you take one thing is for sure: your names will forever be immortalized as heroes of The Dalelands.

About me
Hi! I'm William and I've been a dungeon master for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons for over 6 years now! I typically play homebrew campaigns, but also run modules as well! My goal in any game is to match the experience to the players so that each one of them has a session that lets them shine individually, as well as encouraging and rewarding the heart of the game: teamwork! I love good roleplay in my games but I am also quite familiar with tactical combat, making each character feel integral to the game! I look forward to playing with you all!

Creating your character
Characters made for A Shadow over the Dales will be made using the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 core ruleset, with 2024 expanded content allowed upon approval. The starting level is 10, and stats will be decided via standard array or point buy. Please have a couple of character ideas in mind going into session 0, where creation will be finalized.

Players will need a Discord account, a Forge VTT account, and a D&Dbeyond account.
What William is a Bard brings to the table
As a DM I encourage roleplaying and storytelling, as well as tactical combat that rewards all kinds of player builds! I am very reactionary, and tend to let my players drive the story forward. I do play by the rules, but when the time calls for it I do tend to use the rule of cool! I also bring all of the 2024 core rulebooks to the table (in addition to the Faerun books), which players can access through D&Dbeyond. Expect curated music to immerse you into the game!

How William is a Bard creates a safe table
Upon admission to the campaign, I will send out a game expectation sheet where you can write down your expectations, lines and veils, and at-the-table concerns. Sessions will have a 10-15 minute break. At the end of each session, we have a short feedback discussion so that I can make sure everyone's expectations are being met!
