About the adventure

Stepping from a portal with a dusty boot in hand, you leave a bustling metropolis and arrive at a crumbling ruin. Prepared for disaster, you are instead met with an empty pedestal where an ancient relic should be. Thus begins the mystery unraveling magic across the planes. You and your new friends will explore the planes of D&D, finding out who is destroying magic, and why. Perfect for beginners, this game allows you to try map-based exploration, combat, role playing, and introduces you to the many official worlds of D&D. If you like bold choices, action, and lots of magic, this is the game for you! The party will be based in the magical city of Sigil, built on the inside of a floating ring at the heart of the multiverse. A blend of Narnia, New York City, and Across the Spiderverse, this bustling magical city see angels and demons eating in coffee shops alongside regular people. Come try something unlike any other fantasy setting out there!

About me

I've been playing D&D for 13 years, and DMing for 7! I've been a professional DM for middle-schoolers and their families, and run games for me and my friends outside of StartPlaying. I think roleplaying games are a great way to learn about yourself, build a community, increase social skills, and have fun! All are welcome at my table! I have experience running D&D Fifth Edition, and have played Monster of the Week and Avanced D&D as well. My favorite part of the game is worldbuilding, followed by roleplaying.

Creating your character

We will create characters using the 'point buy' system. There will be a free session 0 where folks can ask questions and get help with their sheets, or pick from premade options. Backstory ideas are encouraged, but no required.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should make sure you have a working microphone, speaker, and computer that has connection to the internet.

What Llewyn brings to the table

I provide custom battlemaps, fast-paced combat, years of expertise in the game, and silly voices. I excel at worldbuilding and making a welcoming space for everyone to have fun. I generally stick to the rules as written, but I love making and giving homebrew items and features that allow players to do what they want.

Homebrew rules

Flanking provides advantage (being on opposite sides of an enemy with an ally), critical hits are max damage plus a regular roll of the dice, drinking a potion is a bonus action, using an ability you are proficient in is a free action during combat.

Safety

How Llewyn creates a safe table

I use lines and veils, breaks, and a session 0, and stars and wishes (getting continuous player feedback to adjust the game) to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
