About the adventure

After a long stretch of adventuring, your party finally has time to kick back in a warm tavern with some cold drinks, and zero responsibilities. That is, until a wild-eyed and frantic sheep bursts through the door with an ornate scroll in mouth, and trots straight to your table. So much for your night off. Welcome to The Wild Sheep Chase! This is a ridiculous, pun-filled one-shot where downtime turns into baaa-tle time.

About me

Hi, I’m Ash (Zalixa Craft)! I’ve been telling stories around the table for years, first as a player, then as a GM. I’ve run everything from emotional one-shots to long-running campaigns, and I love helping players bring their characters to life. Whether you’re brand new to tabletop RPGs or a seasoned player, I’ll meet you where you are and make sure you feel welcome. We’ll start every adventure with a session zero and use safety tools so we can create something amazing together.

Character creation

Creating your character

You can create your character before our first session or we can build them together during the first session. Whichever works best for you! If you want to jump in right away, feel free to prepare beforehand. We’ll use whatever method you like — pen and paper, D&D Beyond, or any other character builder you’re comfortable with. All characters will start at level 3, which gives you some cool abilities without being overwhelming for new players. You can choose one of these options for your ability scores: Standard Array: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 Point Buy: Using the official D&D 5e point buy system Rolling: If you prefer rolling stats, we’ll do that together during the session You may create your character from any official Dungeons & Dragons 5e content that is available in the Player’s Handbook. For simplicity and balance, I ask that you avoid homebrew or third-party content unless we discuss it ahead of time. Feel free to pick any race, class, and background you like. If you’re new to character creation or want some help, I’m happy to walk you through the process step-by-step, either before or during our first session. Just let me know if you’d like me to create a sample character for you or help you customize yours.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To make sure you’re ready to jump into the game smoothly, here are the steps you’ll need to complete before our first session: 💻 Create a Discord Account We’ll use Discord to chat, share info, and coordinate during the game. If you don’t have an account yet, please sign up at discord.com. Once you’re signed up, I will send you an invite link to join my Discord server where all the game communication will happen. 💻 Set Up D&D Beyond Account The game itself will take place online using D&D Beyond, so please create an account there at dndbeyond.com if you haven’t already. D&D Beyond is where your character sheet will live, and where we’ll track character info, spells, items, and more during the game. 📱 Optional: Download Discord App While you can use Discord in your browser, many players find the Discord app easier to use for voice and text chat. Download it on your PC, Mac, or phone if you want (not required but recommended). 📝 Have a Way to Take Notes You might want pen and paper, a notes app, or a document open to jot down important story points or character info during the game. 😊 Be Ready to Create Your Character Use your preferred method to create a character as outlined in the character creation guidelines. If you want help, just ask — I’m here to assist!

What Ash brings to the table

When you join my session, you’re not just here to learn the rules; you’re here for a fun, memorable, and welcoming D&D experience! Here’s what you can expect from me as your Game Master: 🧙‍♂️ Guided, Friendly Play This is a Learn-to-Play game, so I’ll explain the rules clearly as we go. No pressure to know everything - I've got you covered. I’m patient, encouraging, and happy to help with mechanics, character choices, or even in-character decisions. 🎭 Roleplay & Character Voices I love bringing NPCs to life with character voices and fun personalities. You don’t have to do voices if you don’t want to! Just enjoy the ride (or join in if you're feeling brave)! 🎧 Immersive Experience I use ambient music and sound effects to create a rich atmosphere and help set the tone. Whether we’re in a cozy tavern or facing off with something wild, you’ll feel part of the world. ⚔️ Cinematic Combat, Not a Math Test Combat is tactical but not overly crunchy. I aim for a good balance between clarity and momentum, and I keep things moving so everyone stays engaged. I value creative thinking. If you try something cool or funny that makes sense, I’ll lean into the Rule of Cool over strict Rules as Written. 🎲 Tools & Support I’ll provide a D&D Beyond campaign link so you can easily build your character and access shared content. I’ll be in Discord to answer questions before and after the game, help with character creation, and keep you in the loop. 🌟 A Fun, Inclusive Table Whether you’re brand new to D&D or returning after a break, you’re welcome here. My table is a safe and inclusive space for all players, and I make sure everyone has a chance to shine.

Homebrew rules

🩹 Potions of healing can be ingested on a bonus action, rolled normally. However, feeding them to a downed teammate takes an action. This is a pretty classic homebrew rule that you'll find at most tables. 🎲 I usually modify crit roles. For crit roles, the target will take full damage for one dice and roll second dice normally and add modifiers. This really lets the target feel that "oomph" of a critical hit!

Safety

How Ash creates a safe table

At any point players can message me privately with any concerns they may have. Prior to sessions, I send out an RPG Checklist that is optional for any player to fill out. I also send out a Stars and Wishes document that is optional. My table is a safe and inclusive space for all players and I want to keep it that way at all times.
