About the adventure
Players take on the roles of teenagers living double lives. By day, they deal with school, expectations, relationships, and social pressure. By night, they explore the Midnight World — a cognitive realm shaped by the collective unconscious of humanity — where human emotions, fears, and desires manifest as dangerous Shadows. Some individuals can awaken supernatural Facades, manifestations of their true selves, and use that power to confront the horrors born from the human psyche. Others, overwhelmed by trauma or obsession, may become Shadows themselves. Tone: mysterious, thrilling, surreal, adventurous, dark humor, existential dread Themes include: - Identity and self-acceptance - Internal conflict and emotional repression - Adolescence under impossible expectations - Cosmic horror through psychology rather than gore - Conspiracy, secrets, and hidden truths - Balancing ordinary life with supernatural responsibility Touchstones: - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series - Jungian psychology - Psychonauts - Xenosaga - Real-world myths and legends This campaign emphasizes character drama and emotional stakes. Character creation focuses on emotional tension, relationships, and growth. The Midnight World & Hawthorne The Midnight World is a distorted reflection of human consciousness. Within it exist Palaces, domains ruled by powerful Shadows known as Rulers, each embodying unresolved desires or obsessions. The campaign is set primarily in Hawthorne, a city in the far northwest grappling with: - A hidden supernatural history - A dangerous cult - Political and social tension - The pressures of teenage life Your actions in the Midnight World have consequences in the real one and vice versa. Safety & Table Culture This campaign uses safety tools to support intense emotional and psychological themes: - Session Zero alignment - Lines & Veils - Open door policy - Check-ins and breaks - Stars & Wishes feedback 🌈 This is a queer-affirming table and we belong here.

Creating your character
You don't need to know the game rules. To create your Hero, you choose a playbook, a form of character sheet that has a character arc, themes, and tropes baked in. Playbooks have individual and group questions: you can go ahead and define somethings about your character but the group questions can only be answered during session 0 (or later sessions if you join the game later). I'll share the playbook files with all players and each player must pick a unique playbook that someone else didn't pick. Before session 0 I'll make them available to you so you can chat beforehand about which kind of character you want to play and there are no doubles. Late comers: past Session 0, I will help you through the process before your first session to make sure we can fit you into the game with the already existing PCs as smoothly as possible.

How Gabi Caetano creates a safe table
As a Queer, Neurodivergent Game Facilitator from the Global South I strive to make my tables welcoming to players of all backgrounds, especially from marginalized groups which includes making accommodations for individual player needs and kicking out bigots and fascists from my table (then reporting them). 🌻♾️🏳️🌈 All players are required to join Session 0, where we will discuss mutual interests, goals, and play styles, as well as establishing our lines and veils and other safety tools. We begin our first gameplay scene at the end of Session 0. Our biggest ally is the Check In: use it liberally! ✅ The game includes themes of inter-generational conflict and comic-book. 🔴 Default lines: - Ableism; - Child abuse - Homophobia; - Transphobia; - Racism, fantasy racism; - Sexual violence/harassment; - Player-on-Player gaslighting and bullying; - Player-on-Player TRASH (transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia) behavior; 🟡 Default veils: - Child endangerment; - Xenophobia; - Gaslighting; - Fatphobia; - Eating disorders; - Police violence; - Sexual interaction/descriptions; - Spiders; - Bullying.
