About the adventure

This is the game that meets the 1980's parents' warning about D&D, which D&D never was. "Outcast Silver Raiders is a blood-drenched occult medieval role-playing game in the old school tradition. Players portray brutal warriors, clever rogues, and conniving sorcerers who reject the barbaric theocracy of medieval society to seek fortune and glory beyond the reach of lords or God. Explore medieval Europe as seen through a dreadful mirror. Perform forbidden rituals. Feed your blood to dæmons in exchange for eldritch power. Spill the guts of your foes over cracked altars, and howl loud to heaven for a forgiveness that will never be granted to your wretched, abominable soul.... Inspired by Scotland circa 1200CE, the Mythic North is an epic setting, a massive hexcrawl detailing a frigid land of mountains, heather, crumbling castles, and ancient stones. There are no wizard guilds, no orcs or dwarves. Monsters exist, but only as legends haunting distant reaches. The ascendant Church hunts down any hint of magic, and witches and enchanters practice their forbidden arts only in secret. Lords command, knights ride to battle, and peasants die in the mud."

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll do it as part of Session 0/Session 1 - character creation is very fast. Characters are human, and are one of three character classes - Warrior, Rogue, or Sorcerer.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you need is a discord account and something to do discord voice chat with.

What Swords and Sorcery brings to the table

I will provide a dark and dangerous adventure setting, creepy character voices, grim black and red images in a discord channel, and suitably atmospheric background music.

Homebrew rules

none planned but we might adjust some rules along the way.

Safety

How Swords and Sorcery creates a safe table

This is a dark and bloody setting. Demons and ritual blood magic. The tone of this campaign setting is that of a lurking, ancient menace reinforced by a constantly-present overbearing religion (based on Christianity) that informs all aspects of life. Dæmonic beings infest the world, tempting humanity into sin and excess. These beings are ancient and terrible, have been with humanity since before humans gave them names and cloven hooves, and will be around long after Christianity has fallen to dust. A line and veils form will be provided for people to identify any concerns they have with this context, and we will go through it in session 0.
