About the adventure

In life, you always felt the subtle pull of Fate, and it never led you astray. But it did lead to your death. As they say, it's only the beginning, and even as you stand reborn, the tug still beckons deep in your soul. Now it has led you to a certain train station with a ticket in your pocket. You know this is where you are meant to be. Choose from 13 Threads of Fate and 13 new species to guide your character through their story as the campaign unfolds under a crooked moon. Reborn after a fateful death, they are each picked up by the Ghostlight Express. They will soon find however, that these Threads of Fate are full of many knots. A sinister plot unfolds, as crooked and binding as the infinite night. What will they become as they traverse the valley of Wickermoor Hollow?

About me

27y.o. Creative writer by trade, forever DM by passion. I got into tabletop and DnD right before starting college, then took off during my college years in the local RPG club. After graduation in 2020 and the everything that happened, having my crew of ttrpg buddies and baddies to go after kept me sane. Now I want to extend that magic to others also looking for a bit of creative release in a hectic world. I've played mostly 2014 5e and am gradually adjusting to the recent updates from 2024.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using 2024 5e rules and source books. Players will have access to the first sections (chapters 2-7) of the Crooked Moon book to choose their races, new spells, and threads of fate. We will not be using other sources outside the core 2024-25 books and The Crooked Moon.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A discord and Quest Portal account (both free to make) are needed. It would also be helpful to have room on a google drive folder as sessions are recorded and shared via google drive.

What Deja Gonsalves brings to the table

The discord will be organized and open for everyone's needs or just to post jokes as the campaign progresses. I record sessions so nobody feels pressured to be the note keeper, but they will not be posted outside of a shared google drive folder that is only accessible in the discord. I use Rule of Cool and fairness, which means if you can explain your crazy plan clearly, I will try to find a way to allow it. Questportal has features such as ambient music, scene setting, dice rollers and map tools.

Homebrew rules

Free Session 0! Using real dice is allowed vs dice rollers Max HP on level ups (so I can throw cooler monsters at you) Potion interactions on a Bonus Action 1 free item interaction per turn (such as switching weapons or shields) Crits or massive dmg (more than half a creature's hp) incur various debuffs (crippling, or blindness, etc) Enemies who see their numbers reduced to half or less in one round or who take massive damage will make a cha save to stay in combat vs running away I do not target animals or familiars in combat, so if you have a carriage horse or donkey carrying the party's stuff, they're sent away. Exceptions are made for enemies stealing animals without harming them, so watch out for that notorious horse thief in the village.

Safety

How Deja Gonsalves creates a safe table

Session 0 will be an open meeting to discuss hard boundaries, schedule tuning, expectations and permissions between DM and players. The main permission will be for recorded sessions. I also check in with players at the end of session to make sure everyone is enjoying the game in line with their expectations. Each chapter of the adventure has a list of content warnings we will go over in Session 0.
