About the adventure
Remnants, machines built by the fallen ones, have roamed the Echo Vale longer than anyone can remember. While our co-existence has always seemed peaceful, a few machines have started to display unusual behavior. When the group is assembled to investigate a particularly violent incident, they discover something sinister is motivating the attacks by the remnants. Will they stop the escalation to violence before it's too late? — I love collaborative storytelling roleplaying games and Daggerheart is the convergence of clear mechanics and collaborative storytelling. We’ll explore the character creation and world building together, establishing the setting and history together. We’ll set precedence, exploring how the world’s magic and mythology work fit into the everyday lives of the characters. We’ll shape the narrative of the people and the politics, building the challenges that the world brings to them. And then we’ll play… to find out what happens.

About me
As with every profile, it's a work in progress. Most ttrpg folks have a dice kink. I have a systems kink. I have more books and systems than I'm ever going to be able to play, but I am damn sure gonna try. Here to run games I love and explore games that others do. Want me to run something particular? Let's have a conversation and figure it out.

Creating your character
We'll start with a Session Zero, which will include the opportunity to create characters for all of the players. We'll be using Demiplane to host our character sheets and character creation will be done there. We'll then use Roll20 to integrate them into our game. Pre-Gen characters will also be available for players who are interested.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
For gameplay, we'll using discord and demiplane for our game, so you'll need a couple of things in order to prepared. For discord: - A free discord account. - A working microphone. - headphones (recommended in case you're playing in an environment where others might hear the game). - a camera is recommended but not required. For Demiplane: - A free demiplane account. - A compatible browser that works with forge vtt (Firefox is recommended).
What Johnnie brings to the table
An eye for mature storytelling and a collaborative approach to build our story that fits the group at the table. I will have all of the game material accessible to the players. We’ll use Demiplane for sharing Daggerheart materials and to create characters. Our character sheets will integrate with Roll20 and play our game there. Discord will be for voice/video communication. This will be a narrative first game filled with story and combat. We'll play with the rule of cool, but won't ignore the rules either.
Homebrew rules
Not specifically home-brew, but we will utilize all material published by Darrington Press into our game. This includes the Void play-test materials. Anything else is definitely up for discussion.

Safety
How Johnnie creates a safe table
Daggerheart is at its core a collaborative storytelling. How the narrative gets shaped is largely up to the players. So we will discuss safety tools before our game session, set clear limits on where the story will not go and then do a check in after the game. In Discord, we’ll discuss the use safety tools with the following goals: - content warnings and what they mean for the game. - establish lines and veils document for things that are off limits - An X card to acknowledge concerns during the session. - An open door policy, which means that you are free to step away and leave at any time if something doesn't feel right.
