About the adventure

You will learn the basics of how a roleplaying game works and go over the character sheet and how it helps you play your character. We will then partake in a little adventure in the village of Feather Falls, which will help you learn the basics to all three phases of DND: social encounters, exploration, and combat. We will use pre-made characters and use the digital character sheets to roll dice.

About me

Back in the day, I played AD&D every Sunday at noon. The DMs were two brothers who took turns. I had never really been friends with them before that. We played until dinner. We were into it. I played Felris Quickfingers, Svirfneblin Jester. I could never figure out how anyone DMed the game and I never cared to learn. The same could be said for working in a middle school, which I had also sworn off ever doing, but found myself doing one day. I started social groups using DnD and Pathfinder. It was awesome teaching kids DnD and building relationships that way. Eventually, I switched to playing with friends and family during the pandemic. Now, I DM almost exclusively. I foolishly thought I would DM to inspire my players to also become DMs. In the meantime, I discovered I love the range of creativity this hobby brings out in us all, and all the ways it brings people together.

Jake Ware will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game. This will be a level 1 adventure, and the sheets will be provided on the VTT we use.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Once you get the links, join the Discord server and meet your fellow party members! Also, you can join the Roll 20 game by signing up with the link I send you, then explore the basic tools, which I will go over during our session. Watch a liveplay or two on YouTube or listen to a podcast to get an idea of the flow!

What Jake Ware brings to the table

I like to get silly, I'm fairly tactical with my combat but try to be realistic with it, and tend to prefer Rules instead of whatever sounds cool.
