About the adventure

You are Neverwinter’s problem solvers. The kind of investigators people hire when the City Guard stops asking questions. When gnomes begin disappearing from Little Cog, the city’s tinker district, the work should be simple: follow the leads, find the missing, collect your pay. Instead, every clue pulls you deeper into a web of political pressure, arcane experimentation, and secrets buried beneath the city’s streets. This low-level Dungeons & Dragons mystery (Levels 1–4) puts you in the role of a true detective agency. You’ll interview suspects, track false leads, manage public pressure, and decide who you can trust when powerful factions would rather see the case quietly closed. Combat exists, but the heart of the adventure lies in investigation, tense roleplay, and hard choices. Your conclusions matter, your mistakes have consequences, and the truth you uncover may change how Neverwinter chooses its future.

About me

I have been playing RPG’s most of my life. I received the D&D basic box set for my birthday when I was 12 and have been hooked ever since. I’ve played and ran D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller, Path and Starfinder, Gamma World and more! I have a huge collection of books on my shelf and online. I can run games on Roll20, Foundry and Fantasy Grounds. I am not a strict rule follower. I believe in the rule of cool. I want my players to have a great time because if they’re having fun it means that I will be having fun. I love collaborative gameplay and story telling. I think one of my “faults” is that I can be a little too nice or a push over for my players. I've had players behave badly and it took me a little more time than I would’ve liked before I talked to them to rectify the problems. But I’m working on that. I plan on running a lot more games in the near future as I slowly wind down my real life business. So the future looks bright!! But I would love for StartPlaying to be my new home for finding fun and exciting players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players can bring 1st level characters to session 0 using either point buy or standard array. Anything in published WotC books are fine to use. And if none of that makes sense to you I can help you create a character in session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Foundry VTT for our tabletop and Discord for voice chat. So please make sure that you have a free account to those platforms. You do not need to have a character prepared for the first session but if you would like to make one before that than by all means that would be great. If you will be having snacks then make sure you bring enough for the entire group. :)

What DMStevo brings to the table

I will try to set the mood using soundtracks and music in game. I do enjoy using animated maps and tokens when I can to bring the maps to life. I try to use different voices for different NPC's and try to make the game world come to life! I love to bounce ideas off of my players to try to get them to roleplay as much as they are comfortable with. I am definitely not a stern or harsh GM/DM. If anything my players tell me that sometimes I am to easy on them but I don't love killing my players characters but when it happens I want even that to be special. I really just want everyone to have the time of their live and my games to be something that they will remember long after the last dice has been rolled.

Homebrew rules

No jerks! LOL seriously though. I do not stand for bullying of others at my table.

Safety

How DMStevo creates a safe table

I want everyone at my table to feel safe. This should be a safe environment for everyone to explore their characters as deep as they want to go. I have a zero tolerance on bullying or PVP or any kind of discrimination. At session zero I like to discuss with my players how they like to proceed with X, N & O's. Weather that would be a private message or something in chat. My games do have violence and my evil NPC's are evil and do evil stuff but I do understand that some things are triggering to people and I can easily accommodate for that. That is what a skilled GM is for.
