About the adventure
depth and danger: Dungeon of the Mad Mage is a heroic fantasy adventure set beneath the city of Waterdeep, where an endless, shifting dungeon called Undermountain descends into darkness and legend. Twenty years after the events of Dragon Heist, strange rumors begin to spread: old wards are failing, forgotten doors are opening, and something ancient beneath the mountain has awakened. Adventurers are once again being called to brave the depths — not just for gold and glory, but to uncover what now stirs below. This campaign blends classic dungeon-delving, mystery, and character-driven storytelling. You’ll explore bizarre ruins, haunted laboratories, lost cities, and twisted magical realms while facing monsters, rival factions, and the lingering echoes of a mad archmage’s experiments. Along the way, your choices will shape how Undermountain reacts to you — opening new paths, creating new dangers, and revealing secrets buried for decades. This game is perfect for brand-new players and veterans alike. You’ll start at level 5, strong enough to feel heroic without needing deep rules knowledge. No experience is required — everything you need to play will be taught at the table. Expect a welcoming, supportive environment focused on fun, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, whether you’re here for epic battles, roleplay moments, or exploration. My playstyle leans toward cinematic storytelling, meaningful choices, and a balance of combat, mystery, and roleplay. The tone is adventurous with moments of humor, danger, and emotional weight. If you enjoy uncovering secrets, surviving impossible odds, and shaping a story together with a group, Dungeon of the Mad Mage is your invitation to step into the dark — and see what’s waiting below.

About me
Hello there! My name is TJ and I've been GMing for friends and family since 2009. I'm experienced with D&D Fourth Edition, Fifth Edition, Call of Cthulhu, and Star Wars Saga Edition. I try to allow for the most player freedom possible. You wanna do the cool thing and I want you to do it too! I offer descriptions and environments but YOU decide the story! So...where do we start?

Preparing for the session
Players will need access to Discord, Roll20, and DND Beyond. Once you are accepted into the campaign you will receive links to all applicable sites. Players will also need either a phone or computer and access to a microphone.
What TJ brings to the table
As your GM, I’ll bring the world to life with vivid, cinematic descriptions, immersive scene-setting, and fully voiced NPCs to help every moment feel real and memorable. I use the rules as a guideline, but lean into Rule of Cool whenever it makes the story better or the table more fun, and I’ll always offer clear, fair rulings to keep the game moving smoothly. My word is final on decisions at the table, but my goal is collaborative storytelling — creating epic, hilarious, and emotional moments together while making sure everyone feels welcome, supported, and excited to play.
Homebrew rules
I am open to any suggestions that players may have. We will decide as a group during the first session. If we choose to use any Homebrew rules they will be loosely adhered to through the campaign.
